This morning I was laying in bed when the house starting shaking and loud voices starting shouting from my livingroom. Considering I live alone and away from other buildings I realized I was half-dreaming and ignored it. Then I got some vibrations and tried to relax and ignore them too.
I stopped trying for obe's years ago. I figure I'll have enough time out of my body when I eventually die. Anyway, I relaxed then suddenly I could see my room even though I knew my eyes were closed. I keep a mirror on the wall in my room so I got up and looked at myself. First my eyes in the mirror were closed, then suddenly they were open a little but all puffy and red. Then I had only this big open eye on my forehead. I looked freakish. I turned away from the mirror and looked down at my hands and my fingers were melting. I shrugged a whatever, gave a yawn, and crawled back into bed and went to sleep. I doubt this was an obe. It was probably just a dream. |

About 4 years ago I awoke during the night to hear the radio on downstairs. It was a talk show, muffled, matter-of-fact and monotonous. I got up and went to the top of the stairs and it stopped. I climbed back into bed and then the most horrid thing happened: I heard the front door open and then the sound of feet climbing the wooden stairs. I was absolutely petrified, jumped out of bed and was frozen to the spot, my heart pounding and my stomach churning. I immediately thought, rather than the obvious (a burglar), that it was an old resident of the house who still had a key and had returned because he/she had forgotten where they lived. What a strange thought! The footsteps stopped at the top of the stairs and I stood there in the bedroom for minutes, frozen to the spot, listening for any signs of breathing or movement. When I could talk I called out...no answer. I finally swung my door open and there was noone there. I made my way down the stairs and the front door was closed. No sign of entry or anything. The radio wasn't on and all was calm.
I climbed back into bed and when I awoke in the familiar daylight the next morning and had time to think rationally, I realised that I'd experienced a profound shift of consciousness the night before that appeared almost dreamlike - but I knew it wasn't. |

I doubt this was an obe. It was probably just a dream. I'm not good at interpreting things, but I do see a few key things here. 1) Vision that bypasses eyelids 2) Clairvoyant viewing of your own third eye 3) Seeing your own fingers melting #1 - This typically happens when one is on the verge of exiting the body. This is generally well-known and accepted, as far as metaphysical things go. #2 - The eye you saw in the center of your forehead is the location of the third eye. The fact that it was open is the reason you could see in the first place. #3 - This is a common occurance when out-of-body. This is also very well known. Number 1 & 3 are described often in Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics (the site admin here). Number two is my personal interpretation. As with all things, take everything you read (including this) with a grain of salt. In the end, it's up to you what you believe. I believe it was a full-fledged OBE, the kind that many on the forums are trying to have all the time. You may believe differently. |
