I've been practicing Robert Bruces techniques for a few months now. The one unexpected side effect is not being able to sleep if I try the energy work right before getting to bed.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, when is it recommended to do energy work. By the way, I've had good results with more consistent ablity to have partial OBE's when I reach relaxed states (mainly during naps). |

i practice new in bed, before going to sleep. it really isn't the best time - but mentally i'm not prepared to relax until night time. so its the only way.
whats annoying is, lying on my back and doing new, i'll reach a certain stage where i just have to turn over into the fetal position, and give up on energy work for the evening. but after that i still wont be able to sleep. i think its best in the morning, when my heart beat is basically stopped lol. |

Let me explain how I do it and why: If I attempt to OB I do it at 5am. I naturally get up at that time anyway, so I sit back on a recliner and either attempt it- I don't have to work to relax and I'm already in the hypnagogic state-or go to sleep. I do energy work (sponging, chakra work) around 2 in the afternoon- and at night some more sponging and energy raising, and meditation. The brunt of the energy work is in the afternoon, and relaxation/meditation in the evening.
The reason for this, is that if I did the energy work in the evening, it would take me too long to go to sleep, and when I finally relaxed I would probably pass out. Since it doesn't really take a lot of time to do energy work, doing it in the afternoon gets all the energy flowing, but not at night. At night a little stimulation will 'wake up the energy body' so when I awake in the AM it's 'ready to go.' Also, if you've never had a projection before, it's less scary in the AM- some people get scared with the astral noises, the vibs, and then finding themselves floating around in the twilight-so in the AM it can be less scary, and if you find yourself in a 'situation' you know the sun will come up- and it's spectacular when it does when you're out. |
