It's a matter of perspective. Thats how Robert Bruce interprets the planes, but others might see something completely different.

In the past when I OBE'd I went to "different realms" I went through a portal or whirpool and appeared on the other side of a different place- I never saw the gridlike planes or lotus designs. But once, while in a lucid dream I did jump from one "grid" to the other- like different environments encased in a cube-like environment. I couldn't explore further because at that point I was "astrally abducted" right out of the dream and it ended in another lucid dream.
