Hi all.

I am not only new to this forum but to the art of the OBE too. Firstly, I am sure if I looked through all the previous posts I would find the answer to the question below but, regretfully, I am very short of time at the moment. So, apologies if you've heard (and answered) this question a thousand times before!

Anyway, the question is this:

I recently started reading Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics on the self-understanding that I wouldn't go trying anything until I fully understood what I was dealing with. However, I decided the other night to just try to be aware of the trance state when I reached it, not with a view to projecting, just as an awareness exercise.

At some point as I was falling asleep, there was a blinding bright light, my body lurched forward from the chest like someone being resuscitated (ER style) and then I felt horrendously nauseous, so much so that my automatic reaction was to curl into the foetal position on my side. After which I must have fallen asleep.

I am unsure as to whether this was a failed projection or a successful one that I have no memory of. I would like some feedback on this because I am unsure whether or not my inner fear prevented me from achieving the projection or whether it's just a memory issue. My head and hips still felt very much in my physical body when the 'lurching' occurred which is why I am doubting I achieved an OBE of any kind.

Anyway, I would really appreciate your comments - if only it is to direct me to a relevant previous post!

I can't guess as whether you OBE'd or not, but in the next few days pay attention to your dreams.

Thanks very much for taking the time to post those links. It makes interesting reading and yes, I have dreamt more actively the last couple of nights so your theory sounds like a good one. I have a long way to go!

Now, I don't know if the heart center strobes, but it sounds kind of like that, to me, just because of the feeling in your chest. I'm no expert, of course.

Thanks for the suggestion. I got to the bit in Astral Dynamics about strobe effects the other day and it did sound remarkably familiar. I will look into the possibility of a strobing heart centre as the lurching sensation has kind of stayed with me so it must have been pretty powerful whatever it was.

Above all I'm very excited anything happened at all!
