Default Arlen Specter going down?
Don't know if anyone else has been following this race. A lot more interesting to us Pennsylvanians, I am sure, but there's a fair amount of national chatter because of who Specter is and what he has done.

Long time Republican, has been our Senator for the last 24 years. Always seemed to get just enough votes to survive election after election. He's far from the most popular politician in the state.

He was at one time the head of the Judiciary Committee, when he was still a Republican. In that capacity, he was a big supporter of Clarence Thomas, and voted against elena Kagan's nomination as Solicitor General.

But last year, he joined the Democrats to support the stimulus package, and immediately after the vote, switched parties from GOP to Democrat. He was destined to lose the GOP pirimary this year anyway.

A local Congressman, Joe Sestak, jumped into the Democrat primary to oppose him - the entire state Dem party has fallen in line behind Specter. Earlier this year, Obama came and campaigned for him. I got a robo-call from Obama yesterday, asking me to vote for Arlen.

Sestak started the campaign down 20% + in the polls. Within the last couple of weeks, he has pulled even, and is ahead in some polls going into the election tomorrow. The main reason...he is airing an ad that is devastatingly brutal to Specter, that captures Arlen, looking incredibly fiendish, saying "my switching parties will enable me to be re-elected". The ad is brilliant, and is an actual Arlen soundbite.

Per The Daily Beast, the White House now expects Specter to lose tomorrow: http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheat-s...d=cs:headline3
