The entire thing was incredible. I loved when a 007 looking Beckham drove in on a speed boat and they went under the bridge while the fireworks went off.

The Queen made a nice entrance.
(Although I suspect that may have been a stunt double.)

Too bad NBC chose to CENSOR out the tribute to the casualties of the 7-07 attacks in the London tubes.
They aired a meaningless interview with Michael Phelps in it's place.

If the Olympics were being held in New York and British TV refused to cover a tribute to the victims of 9-11-01, I wonder how Americans would feel about that?

The US wants to keep us comatose. NBC had 15 minutes of their 30 minutes nightly news with Phelps. Who cares. He didn't even get a bronze this year.

I like Michael Phelps, and I wish him well.
But I would rather see them interview some women athletes from Muslim countries.
Do the gymnasts and swimmers have to train and compete wearing burkhas?
How are they treated back home (by both the men and the women of their native country)?
I would find that type of interview much more enlightening.

Or one of the "Independent Athletes" (NOT representing any country).
(There were 5 or 6.)
If one of them wins a Gold Medal, what anthem will be played?

IMO the 2012 Olympics was an after thought to Phelps. He didn't even start training until a year ago.

I did see one Muslim woman runner interviewed. She is the only woman on her team and she said back home many people hate her for it. I hope she wins.

Not certain at home. She had a scarf on her head, long sleeved shirt and long elastic leggings. Everything was covered. I think it would impossible to run with a burkha.

Try swimming the 200m butterfly in a burkha.

On the bright side if you fall off the beam, nobody can see who you are.
