Default my uncle -veteran of Battle of Guadacanal dies
Got word this morning,my step uncle dies last night. He passed quickly, he was 94 served on an ammunition ship during Battle of Guadacanal.

He never liked to talk about it, from what I know he wasn't on any of the islands, when I asked him about his service, he always just said "too many of my fellow comrades died on those islands". 'Bout all he would ever say

I haven't seen him in 10 years, he was built like an ox.
He is survived my my aunt, and many cousins, etc.

94 years... is a long time even with today's modern medicine.

thank you both. I talked to my aunt, and she said he just dropped.
No suffering, she's crying, but knew it was coming - he even survived cancer.

If you gotta go, go quickly/ i wish he wold have told me more about the Battle, but he just refused to take it up.

exactly HAWK, WWII wasn't like our modern "no war wars" -the whole world was at stake.

Extend my condolences as well CR. My dad was a WWII vet as well, and much like your uncle, he would not talk much about it. I suppose it was out of respect and deference to those who did not make it back.
