We have our first stunner of Black Monday. Colts Vice Chairman Bill Polian and his son G.M. Chris Polian are out in Indianapolis… The departure of the Polian clan is a seismic decision by owner Jim Irsay after Polian served the team successfully for 14 years. Bill Polian took over as G.M. in early 1998 and made Peyton Manning his first draft pick with the team… Irsay is very close to Manning and there was apparent friction between the quarterback and general manager in recent weeks. Polian seemed almost certain to draft a quarterback No. 1 and had been closely tied to Andrew Luck, who yet another Polian worked with at Stanford.
Is 2012 off to the best start in the history of years or is it just me? Forget the Jets. They’re irrelevant. The Patriots have had one true rival in this decade- the Colts- and now they’re finished too. Peyton Manning misses a year and they not only tank their season, the second the thing is over they form a circular firing squad. Just the very idea that the Polians would do their due diligence on Luck, a once-in-a-generation talent, was enough to make Manning run up the back stairs to the owner’s office, whining and bitching and demanding Irsay push a button on them. Unbelievable. I mean, the season didn’t even end 24 hours ago. Irsay barely had enough time to put some plastic sheeting down on the carpet before he was giving them two in the hat. Anything to keep Mr. “I Want to Be a Good Teammate But…” happy. Of course I’m not crying for Dr. Evil and Mini Me. This was the same Bill (Na)Polian who used his spot on the Competition Committee to make up special rules that favored the Colts. Who acted all holier-than-thou and accused the Pats of cheating, but then piped crowd noise into his own stadium. This is the guy who preached about honor and integrity but when his team had a chance at a perfect season, ordered his coach to bench starters and basically threw a game. And this year, an entire season. No, this serves him right. If 2011 proved anything it’s that the Colts are a one-man band who were lucky enough 14 years ago to have the No. 1 pick and without it they’d be nothing. NaPolian owes his whole career to Manning, it’s only fitting that he’d owe his unemployment to him too. The only downside of this I can see is, what are we going to do next year with no more rivals? @JerryThornton1 http://boston.barstoolsports.com/ran...o-fire-the-gm/ |

And you wonder why the rest of the sporting world thinks less of Boston's sports team's fans...sometimes even more than Boston's teams themselves.
The Patriots did get accused of cheating, Belichick called neglecting the NFL's bylaws (video taping of any game) as a "mistake" (a nice little play on words if there ever was one) as well as "it never happened, it's absurd." What's true though, is that the Patriots haven't won a Superbowl since Spygate... |

The rule was on the placement of the camera only. That is not cheating. Patroits haven't won a Super Bowl since Spygate. But they had an undefeated season and a lucky catch away from winning another one. The jets haven't won a Super Bowl in 40 years. The Pats are there every year. The Jets were caught filming the Patriots sideline the year before (forgot about that didn't you) All the Patriots did was make them remove the camera. They didn't cry to the NFL. Jimmy Johnson said every team in the NFL did the same thing and that included your beloved Jets. The difference is New York has no class. And if you know anything about football you would know you can't get any game time advantage from that camera. For one teams change signals during the game. The only thing they got from tose films was seeing how long it took a coach to get the signals to his quaterback and get the plays off. You could do that by having someone assigned to watch. They used a camera instead. There was no cheating. That is ignorant. NFL's Constitution & Bylaws: "Any use by any club at any time, from the start to the finish of any game in which such club is a participant, of any communications or information-gathering equipment, other than Polaroid-type cameras or field telephones, shall be prohibited, including without limitation videotape machines, telephone tapping, or bugging devices, or any other form of electronic devices that might aid a team during the playing of a game." Do you really think he was fined $500,000 for video taping during the game to gauge a reaction to the time it takes to get plays from the booth to the players on the ground? |

NFL's operations manual: "no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game." |

lol...because the Patriots really didn't mind doling out $250,000, same goes with Belichick and while they were at it, they didn't mind giving up a first round draft pick...
Belichick disciples have a habit cheating...Mangini was no exception. It's no surprise that most Patriot's fans are also Red Sox fans... |

Great having these sports debates with opposing fans. It is fun! I think the next Sox/Yankees game I go to at New York, I'm gonna accidentally nudge a Sox fan down a flight of stairs on your behalf. It's only fun when Sox fans put a hex on their Sox players, id est, Castignoli and the infamous Ortiz jersey... |
