Dooms..if you seek treatment its important to seek a program that treats causes as opposed to symptoms. Anyone can treat a symptom. The real challenge is finding and treating the cause. Thats the only kind of treatment that works for most.

I was there, it doesn't seem to be a problem in your 20's.
You're young, you can sleep under a bridge.

Try doing that until your 50 or dead = problems.

10 years without opiates now, 30 without booze.

Understand brother, it's a dead end. as in cold dead corpse.
You are making a choice -best of luck to you, you're gonna need every ounce of it

My father died a recovering alcoholic. He went to AA and became quite a nice guy and thinker after he started.

glad to hear it, most ppl do become "nicer", it's a load to carry an addiction
( why it's called a monkey on your back) thru life.

either using/aquiring/recovering from the drunk/high - becomes a controlling factor/

Freedom from substance abuse allows all that stuff to disappear, and you get to live life for it's own sake.

Most addicts/alcoholics can't see this until they "get sick and tired of being sick and tired"

sad thing is some never do go into the recover phase.

Glad you got to enjoy time with your father.

Good luck to you dooms! My fiance was an alcoholic at age 15 :/ Luckily he drank nothing for the past year and now is very good at moderation. He's also a recovering heroin addict and is now addicted to methadone but is weaning off it, he's at 45mg which is good, he'll be out soon.
It's a long and winding road but always full of rewards at the end.

I quit when I got down to 20 mg's (methadone).
It was the week George Harrison died, I was driving to the clinic when I heard the news.

Something just "cliked" "why am I still going up here for 20 mg's? "-i didn't even feel it.

Detox at your own rate though, some go down to 10,

Best of heath to you and your husband. "drug free" is more than a phrase, it's no more monkeys in da house.

I dont want to rain on your parade, but trying to moderate when you are a alcoholic, is like running back into a burning house
