I ran a marathon early last year and actually did very little running to train for it.

The race itself wasn't the accomplishment, the real prize was shutting my buddy up by proving to him that steady state cardio is for the fucking birds.

I started a bucket list when I was diagnosed with small-cell cancer in January of 2004.

1- Went to Ireland and kissed the Blarney Stone (August, 04)
2- Went to Tahiti and kissed a Tahitian hula dancer.
3- Went to Australia and watched the sunset on Uluru (Ayers Rock) turn it bright orange.
4- While in Australia; snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef

Still to do:
1- Set foot in Antarctica (I've been to the other six Continents)
2- Return to Vietnam (as a tourist this time)
3- Visit the Taj Mahal in India
4- Go to The Hague to sit in the audience during Bush and Cheney's war crimes trials. (I'm not holding my breath for this one.)
5- Be the last surviving weapons loader (out of 68) from Phan Rang AB, Vietnam. There are 4 of us left.
(See how I snuck the Vietnam reference in.)

Truckman,
My primary AFSC was 32550-A (automatic flight controls), but I was an augmentee 46250 because the loader shop at Kingsley Field was short handed.
When I got to Vietnam and they saw "secondary 462" they were delighted.
We had 2 augmentee crews at Phan Rang.
Most days we loaded six F-100s or less.
We also got the "easy" loads (4-nape or 4-500#)

And I just found out there are only THREE of us left.
One of my buddies died last week. (not from the AO cancer)

Well, it's good to know you got back safely, Mac...My time was spent loading nukes on F-105's and F-4's in West Germany so the guys with the collar jewelry could earn their flight pay driving out to the East/West line and flying back...I cross-trained into weapons maintenance to keep from dying of boredom...Like you, I also got to a five level in the 462 game... ...Ben
