Default Any electrician's out there?
I know this isn't political, but this is where most people are and I need some advice from some helpful people.
Would anybody know what an average electrician might charge to convert a 220 outlet into a 110 outlet?

Any help would be appreciated. Again I apologize for putting it here, but the self-help sites just give me a runaround.

I know you cant convert just an outlet - you would have to replace the breaker that would then affect anything on that loop and then replace the outlet - as far as cost - depending on the part of the country rates can run from 25-100 per hour with about 2 hours to do the job if they are reliable

This is on its own breaker. Large air conditioners used to require 220. They now require 110.

What the hell is your problem? I simply asked for a little help. I didn't think I would get enough responses on the other forum. If it offends you so much I won't do it again.

Like always you liberals don't care about the rules. You post in the political forum I'll find a way to make it political for ya.

Yep - replacing the breaker is pretty easy - takes about 5-10 minutes - and the outlet - the reason I said 1-2 hours is they may have to pull new wire based on what the old wiring was

Your breaker is undoubtedly too big.

Change the breaker to a single pole 15, or 20 amp... whatever your new ac draws. It'll say on the box/unit.

Then, the existing wire can be used. It's probably 12/3 anyway. If you want to do it yourself, it's simple.

Tell me what color the wires are, and I'll tell you where to put them.

I appreciate the offer, but I haven't even bought the new air conditioner yet. I thought I would make the switch first. I have never been real handy.

Bump the thread when you buy one...

Find a friend w/basic tools, and it'll be a breeze.
