The problem is the Catholic and Protestant thing, there will always exist a war there between the fans, which shouldn't go on, religion has no place in football (not so much players, but the clubs and fans).
The other problem is the fact they play 4 times a season, it's just stupid. Mind you it is a really poor League. But thye'll never come down here. |

Rangers and Celtic wanted too come down to England to play in our league....I can't bear the thought of them two playing in our league. I agree, they should increase the number of teams in the SPL so that they only play two times a season |

I think if they ever did come to England (which they shouldn't, they are Scottish, and before you throw the Cardiff/Swansea/Wrexham card at me. the League Of Wales was formed in 1992, years and years and years after those clubs came to be) it would be wildly optimistic to say they would finish nearer the top of the Table, it could happen in later years, but certainly not straight away because the fact is the bigger teams in the Premier League have vastly superior players. I'd say they'd probably finish mid table at first. The reasoning that they are too good for that league is a pretty flimsy one for me though, and not one I'd consider as feasible for a reason for entry to the Premier League, because you could easily argue Barcelona and Real Madrid are too good for La Liga, that us, Arsenal and Chelsea are probably too good for the Premier League and that Lyon are too good for Ligue One.
The other thing to consider is what would happen to the SPL....well it would probably die. I say this because the main attractions, in fact probably the only reason, are Rangers and Celtic, so remoiving them would in effect kill the revenue created by other teams. Because why would Sky for example want to pay money to show Cowdenbeath vs Dundee? Or Hibernian vs Falkirk? They wouldn't. It's not a good income maker for them, heck the current SPL isn't really. The other thing is Europe. At the moment Scotland get two Champions League places, but let's just say for a minute Cowdenbeath win the SPL and qualify, in their group they get Barcelona, AC Milan and Zenit St Petersburg. Let's say they get kicked around in all 6 games and go out. Let's also say this happens to Dundee. Now it might not affect it straight away but if it keeps happening, then Scotland would lose European places, which again means less money. |
