I agree, James has about a 30 second window to win this fight before he is put on his back and all hope is lost.

I honestly think it will be better for the sport though if James can pull it off, if he can succeed we will see more High Level Boxers try their hand in MMA.

Kimbo is not a real boxer, he is a backyard brawler, legitimate, world class boxers definitely are welcome in MMA, if James Toney can find some success then he will pave the way for more boxers to make the move, look how MMA and Kickboxing have gotten on over the years, it would do wonders for BOTH sports if MMA and Boxing could have the same kind of relationship.

the thing though is that Randy is washed up too, obviously with his wrestling background he should have his way with James Toney, but Randy is getting FRAIL in his old age, everything he gets hit with nowadays seems to devastate him, I won't be shocked to see an upset.

That washed up boxer was 5 years younger than MMA fighter. Toney is 42, couture is 47, and Toney still holds is hw title TODAY!! That is not washed up

By the time a boxer has the skills to beat an MMA fighter he is no longer a boxer but an MMA fighter. One style can not do it, that has been the way it has been for a long time. For those who did not know better, welcome to 1996 were the rest of us figured it out.

What I saw Toney do tonight was pathetic and I don't think I know any heavy weight UFC fighter that could not do the same exact thing to the current boxing champ.

If Toney has any use left in him for the UFC it would be against a guy that would stand with him. He has no shot of beating anyone with basic high school wrestling skills, he has the ground game of a dead walrus, I mean, fuck, douche did not even move his hips!!!!

The only fight I want to see Toney fight is with Cro cop, cause Cro cop will stand and go toe to toe and I would like to see his high level boxing vs a high level MMA striker, I actually think Toney would win that fight. Regardless, point is made, boxing is a small part of fighting, and if you are only good at one aspect, you are still not good at fighting. The best a boxer can do is get a flash knockout early

Toney= age 42

Randy = age 47

Toney a current Boxing title holder

Randy + has not had the tile in a few years

Who is washed up fighter?

As been said by MMA guys for a long time, MMA can't beat boxers in boxing without getting lucky and boxers can't beat MMA guys without getting lucky

yeah, honestly man I probably could have taken down and submitted James Toney, though I'd never be man enough to actually fight the guy.

maybe "washed up" was too harsh, but neither guy are what they used to be.

I want the Tower 200 but there's no room to put it. Not all bedrooms have doors that are smack dab in the center away from walls.

Boxing stance has always been terrible against wrestlers. Toney actually thought he could box and win purely on boxing, you could tell by his stance. Dumbass was damn near locked at the kneed on his lead leg against a wrestler!!! Soon as I saw that I started giggling

I didn't expect him do do much, but for fuck sake buy a clue!! He's supposed to be a professional fighter, the last time I saw something that pathetic it was Art Jimmerson's glove!!

I've got respect for the fact that James was not only willing to come to MMA and Face a guy like Randy for his first fight, but also seemed to legitimately believe he was gonna walk through Randy Couture and then Take out Brock Lesnar to become HW champ, the guy is definitely a man. I actually would like to see him get another shot, against like Gilbert Yvel or Pat Barry or something.

He is way too far behind the curve to ever be a force in MMA. He spent 9 months and didn't know how to shift his hips inward?? REALLY???!!!

He is not lesnar, he isn't even bobby lashley, he has no real background

If the guy trained take down defense, and only take down defense for a year striat he may have something

Other than that his only use is some guy that will stand and bang like CC or Yvel or Berry. A good kickboxer

Other than that, a man? For stepping in? Woopty doo!! I step in, all the guys in my gym step in! Why is Toney important other than being delusional? And everyone in my gym, including the women could have shown some semblance of fighting ability. He ran his mouth about shit he did not know about and got what ignorant and arrogant people get, and I could not have selected a better man to deliver the wake up call.

you either got the wrong thread or you're trolling bro, if it's the latter can you try to troll threads that are NOT about Randy Couture's greatness?

lol point taken, I just love an Underdog and Toney was a HUGE underdog, I try to at least give him a little respect, he never had a chance against Randy, the only thing that sucks for me about this is that other boxers will probably not be making the move to MMA now, I'd like to see young, in their prime, High level boxers make the switch and see what they can accomplish, but I think with Toney's utter failure tonight that's not gonna be happening any time soon.
