Default Pedophile Playing The Superbowl Halftime Show
Thoughts?

NFL 'urged to remove The Who from Super Bowl halftime show'

A child abuse prevention organisation has reportedly complained about the booking of Pete Townshend's band

The Who should not perform at the NFL Super Bowl XLIV halftime show, a child welfare organisation has reportedly argued.

The band are due to play at the biggest date in the American sports calendar in Miami, Florida on February 7.

However, Child AbuseWatch.net told the South Florida Sun Sentinel it objects to guitarist Pete Townshend performing with the band due to his 2003 arrest and police caution for accessing child pornography.

Founder and chief executive officer Evin Daly told the news source: "The Who is a great band. Pete Townshend is the only issue here."

Meanwhile, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told the Associated Press the band would still be playing at the show, despite the protests.

"UK police cleared him since he was doing research for a project on child abuse," McCarthy is quoted as saying.

Townshend was cautioned and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for five years after he admitted using his credit card to look at a paedophile website for research into child abuse. The guitarist said at the time he was researching a book about his life.

He was cleared on a separate charge of possessing indecent pictures downloaded from the web.

He admitted downloading child porn but claimed it was for "research" for his book which funnily enough hasn't been published.

welcome to america! the land of the over-reactors and home of the paranoid.

seriously, you might as well change the lyrics to the star spangled banner at this point.

my only hope is that the tard pushing for this "ban" screwed the pooch on this by speaking out before learning all the facts why he had the child porn. even i was like "yeah ban him" but given the situation and his reason for doing it i can kinda go along with it but i dont think you need to pay to get on a website looking at child porn to do "research" about child abuse and such. looking at pics of naked kids and kids performing sex acts isnt going to teach you anything except what it looks like. to me imagining it is horrible enough, i dont want to see that shit. i dont need to see it to know how bad it is.

i think he's an idiot at the least for his little stunt. i still question why he had to pay money to access a website with child porn to do research on child abuse.

show of hands....who here has accessed a child porn site to learn more about how horrible such forms of child abuse really are? i know i havent. i bet not one of you raised your hands either. i'm asking because it doesnt make sense to me.

Yes I understood that "research" part and it does sound fishy but let's give him the benefit of the doubt just for laughs..

Also someone needs to want to publish the damn thing and see value in what he wrote..

My question was however was he cleared of both charges ?

By all means, remove him. And while we're at it remove the Tim Tebow ad because no one should ever be allowed to have an opinion on abortion except to say "Abortion.....fuck yeah!!!!!!"

Sorry I forgot my meds.

Thank you for the welcome but I visit the US quite often

Have you come to Canada and if so do you visit often ? If not, you should.

As to visiting child porn sites, I agree with you, but then I don't judge what others do as I don't do research and I am not in the protection industry. I have no idea what a research would require ( pay for sites or not ) as I am not in that kind of field..
