Default US striker Davies 'in serious condition' after crash
WASHINGTON (AFP) - American forward Charlie Davies is unlikely to play in the 2010 World Cup after undergoing several hours of emergency surgery to repair a shattered right leg and ruptured bladder.
The 23-year-old Davies suffered multiple fractures in his face, a badly broken right leg, a broken left elbow and a lacerated bladder in a fatal car smash in the early-morning hours on Tuesday.
Doctors expressed hope that Davies' high level of fitness would speed up his recovery but they added he would need further surgery and could be looking at up to 12 months or more of recovery and physiotherapy treatment.
"Injuries of this nature usually require a recovery period of six to 12 months and extensive rehabilitation," said US national team doctor Dan Kalbac. "Due to Charlie's fitness level, his prognosis for recovery and his ability to resume high-level competition is substantially improved." Probably very unlikely given his injuries...I saw another of the US Team's players go down last night too after landing weird on his left leg. I can't recall who it was though...but not a good sign.

I'd like to see the USA get drawn in the same group as North Korea, that would be an interesting match!

Did you watch last night? By the end of the match the only "management" left on the Costa Rican side was their strength and condition coach...the others were ejected from the game and led off by DC police!

So...yes, that would be something! lol

...and a good win it was!

US was later on...probably ended around 1 AM your time I'm thinking. I'm more familiar with the players who play in your leagues than I am the US though...*oops* Save Davies, Donovan, Howard, Spector, Altidore, and Adu I'm kinda playing catch up.

Spector plays for West Ham. How did he do? I remember he was brilliant for the US a few months back. Cant even get into the West Ham team at the moment and when he does he's seriously lacking in pace right now.
