I watched a few highlights yesterday, and I have a question...

He (Federer) was running towards the base line to get a shot, and he hit it between his legs.

Now, to me it looked as though he hit it so it hit the ground first, (on the outside of the base line) then it went over the net and was a winning shot.

Do you know the shot I mean? They were calling it the shot of the tournament.

I didnt know you could bounce the ball on the outside of the base line to send it over the net. Thought it couldnt touch the ground on your side of the net, had to go straight over..
If ANY of this has made sense...can you enlighten me?

I believe it was an awesome shot it only hit once on Roger's side of the net. Rare someone hit a winner between their legs.

Yeah, but didnt it hit the ground on his side of the net before it went over...not from the other player...

its so hard to explain...

He was over the base line....it looked to me as though he hit the ball so it bounced on the ground of his side of the net (on the outside of the base line) then sailed over the net for the winning shot

He didnt just nhit it between his legs and straight over the net...

Am I making sense

OH my yes!! Patrick McEnroe was saying, geometrically, the guy gets angles on the ball he had not seen before in tennis. Maybe due to his height?
