Default Mens Figure Skating WHO YA GOT
One of the "glam" events of the 2010 Olympics.

If you've been following, you know that less than 1 point separates the top three men - Yevgeny Plushenko(1), Evan Lysacek (2) and Daisuke Takahashi (3) after the short programs. And the bitchiness calling out has begun. Plushenko has said "if you aren't doing a quad, you don't deserve the gold" (Lysacek is not planning a quad in his program tonight).

Not likely that anyone is sneaking in from outside the Top 3 to claim the gold, but there will still be a lot of interest in the free skates of Stéphane Lambiel, Nobunari Oda and Johnny Weir (HFJW), among others.

The top skater's short programs are all up on YouTube. And the order for the Top 6 has been picked:

19 LYSACEK Evan 2 90.30
20 ODA Nobunari 4 84.85
21 LAMBIEL Stephane 5 84.63
22 TAKAHASHI Daisuke 3 90.25
23 WEIR Johnny 6 82.10
24 PLUSHENKO Yevgeny 1 90.85

Given how this is shaping up, I think if I am Evan Lysacek, I wanted to be either first or last. If I am Yevgeny, I wanted to be last.

I think Evan's bringing it home tonight.

I think Takahashi might surprise. Or, I guess, it won't be a surprise, since they're so close, but I think there's too much pressure on Lysacek from himself and on Plushenko because of dismal Russian performance in the Games so far.

Plushenko is a veteran and he's got a solid quad. It's really up to him in a lot of ways. Evan is solid, but he's prone to nerves. Takahashi to me is the biggest wildcard, if he skates big and skates clean he really could get gold.

I would love if His Fabulousness Johnny Weir sneaks a medal though. It'd be amaze.
(I also would like for Stephane to skate a clean program, he's so much fun to watch when he's on.)

All and all, I'm going to with Plushenko.

I don't care, as long as it's anyone BUT Plushenko. I'd even be fine with Shahar Peer!

I'll pull for whoever Winston wants. She seems to know more about figure skating than the rest of us put together!

Thanks, wayland. Then cast your vote for Takahashi. Can't guarantee a win, but that's who I want.

By the way, you'd never tell from my handle, but I'm a she. (Nelslus, however, has maintained for a very long time that I'm a gay man.)

My other hope for tonight is that Oda skates his program to perfection. It is delightful. I recorded all the Grand Prix series that was on TV this year. Out of 6 events, I only saved 7 skates to DVD. One of them was Oda's.

It's easy to be confused by winston.

Every time I start talking about my favorite players of all time, people always look at me funny when I mention Winston Kuerten.

Whoa! My apologies for the gender mistake. I'm not sure why I assumed you'd be the first male I know to be into figure skating

Takahashi it is then!

I hope Lysacek wins and Weir at least medals, but I'm thinking Plushenko takes the gold.

Who knows, though.

Thank God I'm not the only one.

::

I can't stand Johnny Weir. I'm sorry, did I say that loud enough? I CAN'T STAND JOHNNY WEIR!

I'm pulling for Takahashi, but I voted for Plashenko. I'm a puzzle.

Lysacek for 'Mericuh!

I think Evan is pretty hot, also. He gets my vote.

You continue to bring laughter into my life, dry.

And to wayland and Kirkus, I know that "winston" gives you no clues at all. Maybe it's just habit. My real first name is very unusual and has been mistaken as well. When I was a sophomore in high school, they assigned me to boy's pool. Quite an interesting first day when I showed up in my bathing suit and the rest of the class was in swimming trunks. And the worst part was they woulnd't let me stay.

I read "they assigned me to boy's pool" and thought how cool that you went to a high school that had a class in billiards! LOL.

Unless he falls on both of his quad jumps, Plushenko wins.

Fall, baby, fall!

Here's hoping he spent the week watching Jana Novotna tapes.

He's rocking those Dynasty era Joan Collins-esque shoulder pads, for sure!
