I don't think he was the nicest man in the world, but I think he had a strong desire to win, and he did always keep the Yankees as contenders.

He's had Alzheimer's for the last few years.

He did what he had to do to make the Yankees competitive again. It wasn't always pretty but he wanted to win. May he rest in peace.

Having been born & raised in The Bronx, NY, USA, I've been a Yankee fan all my life.

This has been a terrible week for us.

First, Bob Sheppard, the Voice of the Yankees and of God passes.

Now The Boss is also gone.

Many people don't know that the Yankee franchise was dismal between 1965 and 1974 when The Boss bought it from CBS. Say what you may about him but he was one of the most generous of God's creatures. I met him a few times, because he was close with my younger sister who managed the hotel in NYC where he lived for 1/2 the year; he gave me and my 2 older sons WS tickets in 1976, 77 & 78.

Oh, and things were never dull with the Yankees when he was calling the shots.

I'm glad the Yankees won the 2009 World Series in their new ballpark before Mr. Steinbrenner died.

May Messrs. Sheppard and Steinbrenner Rest in Peace.

Wow. Never saw this one coming! NYC is going to be one very sad state right now.

Condolences to the family, the Yankees, NYC, and the fans....RIP Mr. Steinbrenner.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Steinbrenner.

It was a close game right up until the end.
