I've never really followed the Olympics, especially the summer Olympics.

Plus, I hate how China got the Olympics in the first place.
i hear that...i just like the whole competition thing,USA vs China,Russia vs Georgia(Georgia knocked off russia today in Womans Beach Vollyball).....its a pride thing.

You know you're the man, when people are talking about swimming.

Winning all these golds is simply amazing.

That relay race was unreal with 5 teams breaking the previous record.
There's a reason for that....when the chinese built that pool for the Olympics they made it 11 feet deeper and 2 lanes wider.less water resistance and bigger wakes so the swimmers can ride them better....thats why your seeing all the rcords fall like water over niagra falls!!

I did hear that, but I don't claim to know or care enough to believe if that's true or not.

Athletes are getting bigger and faster everyday.

So I'm just not sure how much a pool is going to have an effect, but as I said, I really don't care either.

To think that two teams broke the previous record and didn't even medal, is quite astounding.

Yeah, its definitely a pride thing for me.

I want to see the US do well against the other nations.

To this day, hearing the anthem gets to me.

Yeah, I'm one of those guys who wouldn't give a rat's ass about gymnastics, swimming, track and field, or any of that stuff, but I do watch quite a bit of it during the Olympics.

Even while on vacation, I managed to catch a little bit later in the evening.

Thanks for the welcome home.

I had a fantastic vacation.

Among other things, I would suggest that everyone make a trip to Yosemite sometime in their lives.

It is a sight to behold.
How was the traffic/crowds at Yosemite?

As I said before, if I'm paying attention to swimming, you're doing something special.

Well, Yosemite is really broken up into two parks for the most part.

Hell, if you want to get techinal, there's actually 3, and some might tell you more.

You basically have the Glacier Point area, Yosemite Valley, and Tioga Pass.

Those are the 3 major components of the park.

Glacier Point had a decent crowd, but its more of a lookout point with a panoramic view of the entire park.

Yosemite Valley is where the most people, and the most facilities/activities are. Definitely the most crowded.

Tioga Pass is closed about 6 months out of the year due to snow. Its an absolute beautiful area that I bet many visiting Yosemite never get to see. The crowds in that area were for the most part desolate, except for one area.

The scenery in and around Yosemite is absolutely amazing.

Yes, definitely. However, if I'm at a ballgame and hear it in person, its much more to me.

I always get pissed when people disrespect the anthem by ignoring it, talking, or whatever.

I'm the same way, just doesn't seem right to disrespect the anthem in such a manner. Also, it was very disappointing when Phelps won one of his first golds and they played a clip of The Star Spangled Banner instead of the whole anthem.

So then.....the crowds were a non-issue?

Haha.

For the short of it, 95% of the time, the crowds were a non issue.

In the valley, they run a free shuttle bus, and we got on one that was jam packed.

Other than that, it wasn't a problem at all.

Yosemite is such a huge park that everyone is spread out pretty well for the most part.

I hope he gets the 8 gold medals. It's about the only thing I'm looking for in the Olympics.
Thats all?

Not to cheer for your own country?
