Default Women's Epee
Next up we get to the easiest weapon for non fencers to understand, looking forward to and best of all, no Krishnan telling us that it is a turn based sport.

A Chinese gold?

Yes China got Gold and Korea Silver!
I watched it,what i don't understand is that why didn't the referee award any penalties for non-combativity?
The second bout was called off...and they *fencers* all made it clear they didn't want to combat at all in the last 10 seconds!
That also happened in the Bronze match between US and Russia!
I guess no one wanted to take a chance after Lam's incident!

What penalty are you thinking of? Please cite a specific rule.

t.87, Non-combativity.
When both fencers make clear their unwillingness to fight, the referee will immediately call
« Halt! ».
b) Team competitions
When both teams make clear their unwillingness to fight:
For the first time during a match, the referee will award a warning (yellow card) against
both of the teams and will proceed to the next bout. This!

If you provide an exact link, we can probably more easily show you evidence that the rule you're quoting is out of date.

Meanwhile, if you want current versions of the rule book, I recommend the following links:
http://www.britishfencing.com/upload...ok_t_23:04.pdf (English)
http://fie.ch/download/rules/fr/RTECHN.pdf (French)

I was at the womens team epee matches- not the final, had to watch that on TV! I would say that LP did a fantastic job with the staging of the pistes. amazing. well done.

The matches were on the whole good- but there was a lot of passivity- and lots of hair management going on! The boy next to me who was 10 and desperate to learn to fence, left because of the lack of fighting! sounds odd but watching Russia v China- 16 points each at the end of the match and into sudden death at the end won by China.. well sorry but it was a brilliant exhibition of strategy but boring as hell to watch! and i found it sad that they did that. try explaining to a little boy at his first comp why the 2 fencers have decided to stop fencing with 15seconds on the clock- that happened a lot.

it was a brilliant experiance and there was a lot of good fencing- Ukraine went out fighting.. it was also sad to see a whole bank of empty seats when I know how hard it was to get tickets.. and to see so many people go home before the ranking matches because it was 'boring'. even got offerred tickets for the final because the people who had them had had enough and wanted to go home.. but I couldnt stay so I hope they found a good home for those tickets.

But I had fun, and the cable car home to Greenwich was brilliant!

The cable car was fantastic - I went on it at every excuse.

The Chinese girls were tall - even when the Americans and Koreans were on the podium the Chinese were still the tallest there.
