Rev. Beth: Athiest in church? sounds like she doesnt really know what she believes. I think she knows exactly what she believes....She believes in no theism (a-theist), no diety...she meets with other people because she is refreshed by sharing in the human spirit
![]() When the word "church" appears most people think of a diety rather than a meeting place. |

What? ![]() There is a school of Bhakti Yoga (devotional path) that teaches to worship the Divine in Five Aspects: 1. God as Father/Mother; 2. God as Child (Son/Daughter); 3. God as Lord; 4. God as Friend; 5. God as Beloved (Husband, Wife, Lover...). I think we can add the one of God as Pet ... I do not see why not. Hermano Luis Moriviví Hermitage |

A related question would be why do people feel the need to believe in whatever god they believe in? It's great to feel that all nature is related and interdependent which is what science says everyday. But why the need to chant the names of a god? Or to say that you believe in some god? Is it just to make you feel better? Or to feel like that you are not that different from everyone else?

God is the creator of all
yet what is God? (and I do not think the name matters at all) where did God come from? That is a mystery that can not truly be solved in life It is only upon death that we can absolutely understand God for if we are nothing but worm food it matters not and if we are in the next realm of life then we would have already passed whatever test was required of us to be awarded the gift of ever lasting life of the Spirit that dwells in us all in the form of our Souls. God could have come from another galaxy that is filled with such Spiritual beings or could have been zapped into existence when the big bang happened, or maybe we are all living on the dust ball that sits on Horton's trunk and God is the one who has a vacuum cleaner. I personally believe God created all including the very early humans all those million years ago and set in motion all that has come after but doesn't take a personal interest in all the billions of humans on Earth today, however God has allowed the human spirit to survive the body death to be the ones who watch over the humans on Earth, but of course all the evil people are just worm food as they are not allowed the gift of ever lasting life for their Spirits. Now if I am wrong I will either be worm food or not at my death and then and only then will I really know the truth but for now it gives me peace and joy and hope so it works for my life. |

I attend church (UU) with an athiest, and she says that while she believes in the human spirit, she simply does not believe in a diety. I just realized I answered this question already |

Hi All,
Seems to me that we are on an endless journey here. If "God" created every 'thing' then that would logically mean that "God" existed before 'things' existed. How is it possible to describe some'thing' that is not a 'thing'? But still every 'thing' is of "God" and therefore, in my mind, every 'thing' is a part of "God". Sure, I would even go so far as to say every 'thing' is "God". Peace & Love! |
