Default Religious Respect.
Stuff like this has to stop.
We have to stand up as a species and say "This will not be tolorated. Your supernatural beliefs do not trump this girls rights"

I agree. This type of behavior must stop.

It is my opinion that not only those doing the stoning are evil but the people who watched are just as evil.

Those people are doing the same thing the Taliban was doing to the population, especially the females (women and young girls).

Peace & Love!

Yeah, that's seriously screwed up.
Unfortunately our beliefs do not trump that country's laws. Until they have oil or some other much loved resource....

Sad indeed! That would not be allowed in my sight without the Sons of Odin and their wrath falling upon all those holding rocks until I was either dead or they were!!!

What is sad is these people are brought up to believe like this from the time they are infants. It is pure brainwashing like any religion forced upon children before the age of decision or accountability.

Albeit not as extreme or deadly Christians are raised to persecute and denouce everyone as a whole and make them feel insignificant if they worship any other religion but theirs ~sighs~. They make fun of anyone who isn't like them or look at them in disgust (as a whole, not all christians). Is this mental anguish and isolationism any better than being pelted to death with rocks?!

I mean it all kills us inside and/or outside.

It is compounded by so many cultural and enviornmental aspects that I fear it will never be stopped, for religious fanaticism is seemingly stronger than any common sense or rationality that exist in the world ~sighs~.

Eventually mother nature will wipe us all out, so I guess anything we do is pretty much mute on a massive scale...we can only strive to change things at the personal level, and if enough people do that perhaps someday we can mature, but I don't see that happening before we kill ourselves ~sighs~

Truly a sad state stoning and the world in general ~sighs~

Great point!

We the great emancipators of democracy who love to help free countries of tyranny!!! But only if they got something for us! ~sighs~.

Kuwait had oil so we through it's merciless dictator back in power yet took out Huessein ~snickers~.

In Rwanda and Darfur we allow people to mercilessly cut people up with machettes because they have nothing to offer us!

Everything is a lie!!!! ~smiles~

The first line of this piece shows that the author is as uncivilized as the people stoning the girl. Unfortunately, s/he thinks she is morally superior. Such people are scary.

We can NOT impose sanity from with-out. We can NOT impose good behaviour from with-out. All we can do, as a society, is to be a good example.

People who make war, without just cause, are not a good example.

Aye, he was obviously trying to conveying the sickening form of corporeal punishment which shouldn't exist in today's culture.

Back when stoning was created it was believed that peoples souls were infested by demons which could never be clean, so stoning provided to things...a way to rid themselves of the demons and a way to free the person's soul from this hellish life where they were possessed ~smiles~.

Just like a lot of crap in the Bible was written for other than spiritual reason...circumcision was for cleanliness...not eating pork, crustaceans, etc. were because of killer bacteria...but they saw them as demons so outlawed them!

So stoning is archiac to say the least, however it appears that many people still believe that people are incurable and possessed by demons and need this corporeal punishment ~sighs~.

I disagree the first line expresses a deep outrage that people would do this. Hate to break it to you but ummmm... yeah some people are morally superior to others. Some of us do not lie, cheat, kill, steal or stone children to death because of who they love. I call that a superior world view.

Being moral is more about doing the right thing in the situation you find yourself in then following some code in a dustly old book. Some people can do this and some people fail, those who fail are broken.

Here's that line for everyone, and the following one: "There are people on this earth that deserve not only to die, but also to suffer greatly prior to their deaths. The process by which their lives will end needs to begin soon, and it needs to be thorough enough to eliminate everyone who believes what they believe and acts upon those beliefs."

In other words, we should completely wipe out a culture, because we are horrified by some of thier actions. And not just wipe them out, torture them first.

In other words: "What I believe is better than what you believe, so you need to die. Painfully."

Morally superior? Or should I unload these stones right here?

Again the author was expressing their outrage and anger at the situation. We all say stuff like that when we are angry. I doubt they actually would care to see them tortured first. I bet just a simple hanging would do.

Bloggers often write in an inflamitory way like this to invoke emotions, raise awarness and get people to talk about it.

She begged for mercy.
As she was taken to the place to be stoned, she asked what they wanted from her.
“We will do,” they replied, “what Allah has instructed us.”
She pleaded for her life. “Don’t kill me,” she pleaded, “Don’t kill me.”
In a football field, the men forced her into a hole and buried up to her neck.
A thousand witnesses stood by, watching.
Then, over 50 men hurled stones at the 13-year-old Somali rape victim.
They hurled stones until they thought she was dead.
There was some confusion. Nurses went over to her to determine whether she was still alive.
Yes, she was still alive.
So, they re-buried her and the men continued to stone her.
To death.
She died because three men raped her.

This is not culture, this is not a religious right this is not a disagreement of beliefs.

This is nothing short of evil.

Yes I advocate the dismanteling of a culture that can do this not by violence but behavour like this should be opposed and if a few inflamitory blogs can make people aware, make them stand up and say this is wrong then I, for one, don't mind.
