Let's keep it simple from the start? When we use the word "God" it is the same as using the word Deity, or gods, or Goddess, or goddesses? The name means whatever your vision or lack of it for such an entity is. It does not describe a religious or spiritual path and you can use whatever word for the concept that most makes you feel comfortable.

Well...I feel that needed to be said...and I think you're right Rake...it's all pretty much the same thing. When I "pray" it's done to Goddess which is the diety title I feel most comfortable with...

And we all have our avatars, the images in our minds when we attempt to connect with Deity. I pray to both Goddess and God each day. What do they look like? I have a small statue of Minerva that has become a representation of Goddess for me. I don't get a clear picture of God in my mind, but I am past the state of just viewing Him as an old man with a white beard and robes. I think that on the edge of my vision I see a Bacchus or a Pan figure. On my altar He is represented by a black, marble Egyptian obelisk.

I'd be interested in hearing what images of God/dess come to mind when connecting with Deity for everyone.

To me, Goddess is a good looking woman, early 40's, with an impish smile. Her hair is pure pyrotechnics, and rainbows are born when she speaks. The worst part of it is I can't get the image of her wearing a tennis outfit, bouncing the Apple of Discord on her racket...
God, on the otherhand, is an 11 year old boy. I don't know why I see him that way, but I always have. I think it's because I see him as having to get his way, or he throws a tantrum.

Rake,
You're right God has many names in all the worlds religions. I pray to both the Goddess (which I believe to be the creator) and the God (created by the Goddess.) I don't have visuals because I use different names from the different pantheons depending on my mood or purpose.

Thanks for bringing this up

I use many Names for God. My favorite is the Beloved or the Beloved One. I also like calling God Divine Mother or Divine Father.

while i respect anyones belief to have a diety as they choose,i do not.
for me,a"diety"is what i see in nature.i don't question where it came from or when(if ever) it will end.it's not importent to my path.what is importent is that i respect and care for that which i am given.

if i had a diety,it would be the one i see in the mirror.hope this isn't off topic.
