May 21 is said to be the end of the world

By David O'Reilly
Inquirer Staff Writer
Soon it will be spring again. The snow will melt, the dogwoods flower. Trumpets will blast, graves will open, and Earth will begin a five-month descent to its fiery end.

Radio evangelist Harold Camping can hardly wait.

May 21 is Judgment Day, when "this world will be a horror story beyond anything we can imagine," he asserts.

With a stern, confident look like that, how could you go wrong?

Camping looks like death himself.......I think he's confusing his own imminent end in May with that of humankind.....

Based on this...

Camping does not intend to be disappointed. He has no plans for May 21 other than to "watch and wait," he said.

He scoffed when asked how he might feel if he wakes up on May 22.

"I would be disobeying God if I say there's a possibility of that," he said. "I mean it with all my heart. There's no possibility - none, none, none - that it will not happen." ... I sort of get the impression that he may just off himself when nothing happens. If so, then I wouldn't be surprised if one of his minions announces afterwords that obviously only Camping was worthy enough to be raptured, or some such crap.

__Jason Wait...is that a double negative at the end of Camping's statement? Freudian slip? Or just a guy who can't think straight?

You know what would be really funny - if everybody else was raptured except Camping! He'd be all alone like Will Smith in "I Am Legend" except for the devil saying, "Looks just like you and me, old man!"

I can't wait for nothing to happen on that day.
Somewhere on a mountaintop, a group of sheep will be praying.
