Naw.

Simple minds need answers to what they don't understand.

So they make up a thing that can be held responsible.

and they will ****ing kill you if you disagree or pity you for not following their logic.

One or the other.

Yes, there are some people whose need to prove their belief who can be irrational, perhaps even delusional. There are many others who simply believe without seeking proof or trying to impose their beliefs on others. I know people like that and they are very sane. They are also intelligent, not simple-minded.
I'm not a true believer myself but I totally disagree with you two on this one.

Until physicists can tell us what happened before or caused the big bang, and what created the first spark of life (be it on earth or anywhere else in the universe for that matter) then I think there will be a place for God. Now, the ones that belong in the loony bin are those that believe their view is the utmost "right" view and "spread the word" *cough* badger/hate everybody that disagrees *cough*

There are more things in heaven and in earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.

You can't prove God exists anymore than you can prove God doesn't exist. There's an awful lot that we simply don't understand about this universe. And if some people want to attribute that to a supernatural being, so be it. Until you or someone else can demonstrate otherwise, it's not for you to judge.

just as concerning as people who want to declare religious wars are people who want to imprison others simply because they don't agree with them or don't like them. what's next, the gas chamber for religious people?

Maybe people who believe in science belong in the loony bin. How exactly does one prove the existence of "science"?

People who want to decree a "truth" that they *know* & others should follow under threat of personal harm are most likely suffering some sort of mental instability.

Just as refusing to use proper punctuation and capitalization does not mean you're ee cummings, believing in God doesn't mean you're crazy. It's one of those things you've got to work at.

Beliving in God isn't a mental illness. There is nothing wrong with believing that there is some higher being on your side or just watching from afar or whatever. And beliving in God and understanding and accepting things like evolution aren't mutually exlusive, so beliving in God doesn't necessarily mean that people are simple-minded.

Now, the ones that belong in the loony bin are those that believe their view is the utmost "right" view and "spread the word" *cough* badger/hate everybody that disagrees *cough*
I'm not sure if these people belong in the loony bin though. The mentally ill aren't usually hateful, intolerant jackasses

I guess Mother Teresa had a mental disease. Guess Sr. Mary Scullion from Project HOME has a severe disease. And millions of others throughout history who we never knew were diseased.

You and I better hope its very contagious if it's a disease.

Have to disagree with this. Believing in God doesn't give you answers.

"Faith doesn't give us answers, it gives us courage." --Sr. Mary Scullion*

*Just realized that's two posts in a row with her name in it.

Believing in God doesn't give you answers.
Did I say that? Did I use the word God or the word answers?

Just as the Tea Parties need to ferret out birthers, truthers, and other whackos, the atheists, skeptics, and secular movement needs to do the same with your type.
