YouTube - Creationist Crap : Slinging Mud on Bradley Byrne
"A candidate for Alabama governor is fighting back against an ad that accuses him of supporting evolution and believing the Bible is "only partially true." Bradley Byrne says the ad is filled with "despicable lies:" "As a Christian and as a public servant, I have never wavered in my belief that this world and everything in it is a masterpiece created by the hands of God," Byrne said. "As a member of the Alabama Board of Education, the record clearly shows that I fought to ensure the teaching of creationism in our school text books." Alabama Governor Candidate Bradley Byrne Attacked for Believing in Evolution Some fun facts about Alabama "Alabama is a state in which 90 percent of its citizens profess belief in God and an overwhelming majority believe that the world was created in a single act some 10,000 years ago. That and with Palin spouting nonsense about this being a Christian nation I think we should let a few states secede. It would be interesting to hear why some of those states perform so poorly. Alaska spends the highest per capita in education out of the 50 states, while Arizona spends the second least. Alabama fits in at 27th; California 16; Mississippi 41; Nevada 44. |

I wonder if Alaska's figures are affected by large numbers of indigenous people who are frequently poor and in hard to serve areas? "Rural lawmakers are railing and legislators from both parties say the issue has festered for far too long. Gov. Sean Parnell says he's working on a solution." The state now operates a two-pronged system to pay for costly new schools and renovations that Bush legislators say gives unfair advantage to urban districts like Anchorage. Most of the Bush schools that need repair or replacement are seriously overcrowded, with double the students they are meant for, according to state education officials, a situation that the governor and four Bush legislators including Herron saw first-hand during a Feb. 11 trip." "THE LAWSUIT The court case at issue, Kasayulie v. Alaska, began in 1997 when a group of rural parents and school districts sued the state. They claimed that the state's method of financing school construction discriminated against rural students. The case was later amended to add a second claim over how the state turned a school land trust into a monetary trust, without ever putting a value on the land that was originally set aside for schools. The Kasayulie case was reminiscent of the Molly Hootch case, the groundbreaking 1970s lawsuit that challenged the state's rural boarding school system and led to construction of dozens of village schools, some of them now among the ones in need of repair or replacement. In the decade leading up the Kasayulie suit, the Legislature neglected to consistently fund grants for rural school construction, while regularly providing funds under a different method for urban districts, according to Howard Trickey, one of the plaintiffs' lawyers. Trickey made his comments in recent testimony before the House budget panel on education at the request of Herron." Bush schools wait years for upgrades, facilities: Rural Alaska | adn.com |

No WAY. He was one of my best sources on the Republican side when I was a reporter on Capitol Hill. Of course, so were Mark Sanford and Mark Foley. So maybe there was some sort of curse associated with being interviewed by me. Or maybe they're all just dirtbags no matter what. Hard to tell. |
