Oh no ! You're going to hell alright , it's the same as a Jew eating a Lobster .
Where did I say people go to Hell for eating meat on Ash Wednesday or Fridays during Lent? Try comprehending what you read.

This is how I see it, if Jesus was here he would say just eat bc there are others who don't have anything to eat. So I eat.
YOU know what Jesus would say? That's remarkable.

Yes. So, are you or aren't you? Eating meat during Lent is not about going to Hell or not, it's about sacrifice and re-enforcing your faith.
I read it just fine .

It's NOT about going to Hell, it's about sacrifice and re-enforcing your faith. I'm pretty sure eating meat isn't going to send anybody to Hell. Being a JO will, though.

Yes, I had NO idea what you were calling me.
It wasn't a very nice acronym. I apologize.

Are you Catholic?
I went through 12 years of Catholic school and I've received all the sacraments. Well, all except holy orders and the last rites anyway. After high school I pretty much had no use for it until I needed to send my son to a school that wasn't a zoo. Now that he has graduated from HS, I'm back to having no use for religion.

I did some research on the origin of some of these "man made" laws when I was in school, but do not ask me for sources as that was a long long time ago. What I discovered though was that the giving up of meat during lent (and it used to be year round on Fridays) really had nothing to do with religious sacrifice. Rather the fishermen were having some tough economic times and so some Pope instituted the "fish linstead of meat" law to help them out. But its not just us Catholic dietary laws. The Jewish restriction on pork products was not for a religious reason either, but rather to keep people from getting trichinosis (sp?) as refrigeration was not around back in those hot desert times. I do find it funny that these laws are still around today as to give up fish would be more of a sacrifice for me since I eat very little meat anyway!!

I also came up with the same thing in the past. In the old days religion was government. It still is in some countries.

Faith is another way of finding answers.I am Roman Catholic and believe that Lent is the beginninng of rebith.A time for a little sacrifice for the comming of the biggest day in the church yr [EASTER} Its our central theme,Christ resurrection. That is major stuff.I truly believe Christ is the son of God,he got beat-up for that,he took that thrashing for us,so the least we could is to sacrifice a little of our pleasure for 6 weeks and prepare ourselves for the Resurection.I believe in a hereafter,so i dont want to rock the boat, besides I am getting older, soon ill be picked, dont want any problems at the gate, spirituality is amazing, its free, reward are great-beats not going to church

Science and knowledge always test your faith. The church has always looked at knowledge as evil.Gallileo got in trouble for saying the eart is round,he got a earbeating from the Pope.Couple yrs later he was proved correct.Church promoted fear to get in line,Knight Templar found out the hared way.Jesuits are the smartist order of priest, they recognize the power of knowledge. They are always fighting with the Pope.In your heart if you feel comfortable with your spirituality, you are fine, structure is not a bad thing
