I do't think I could ever own a gecko, or another reptile that eats insects. Just because those big worms and insects they eat I wouldn't want to have in the house, also I wouldn't want a fish tank...always feel sad for the little fishies...seems like they can never really swim properly...since most fishtanks are so small.

I never thought i'd own a tarantula as i'm terrified of them but now I do so I guess if I hhad to I don't think there is much i'd turn away if it needed a home.
But if it were more pets I dislike and would never buy then rats would be right up on that list, I think the longer I keep snakes the more I see rats as neutrition lol I think keeping a pet rat could make it more difficult for me to feed the snakes without feeling guilty. most people wouldnt pass the licencing requirements over here (uk) for a big cat.
i`d love one, but wouldnt like the food bill!!! i`ve had more than my fair share of dumped/rehomed pets, and although i have never turned anything away, there are plenty i wouldnt own. degus are pretty pointless pets imo- scatty, dont like handling, their tails deglove.....not exactly cuddly. i wouldnt have a hand reared bird - they usually go mental after a few years when they reach breeding age and i jsut think they need the company of their own kind. i love my exotics, but restrict myself to ones the vets around here can cope with, lol, snakes and lizards mainly |

Right now I only have a cat, a dog and a couple of fish ,which is the least amount of pets I've had in my life. I'm open to most kinds of pets but I wouldn't want any wild animals because they are unpredictable and dangerous. A woman keeping a chimpanzee had her face ripped off. I don't mess with wild animals because I would like to keep my face.
Compared to an animal like a wild cat or ape, a tarantula seems relatively harmless so I wouldn't mind a tarantula. |

I am not crazy about any kind of snakes. I don't care what size they are, that is one thing that I couldn't have in my house. They are so sneaky and I would be so afraid that they would slither out of its cage and slither right into bed with me. No thanks to that. The other thing that I could not handle is rats. Rats and mice are just so disgusting to me. I could never have them in my house.

I would never turn anything away, but there are plenty of things I could not house. For example, if someone turned up with a big Iguana; I have nowhere to house it but would take it in and then phone Christy LOL!
If I had the space and proper facilities I don't think there is anything I wouldn't have. |

Id turn away anything with serious behaviour problems or aggression. I have 2 small children so I couldn't risk that. My Ts are kept well out of reach of the kids.
I don't agree with people keeping animals that are really unsuitable as pets like chimps, big cats, big crocs that can (and have done) maul them to death, no matter how tame they think their pets maybe, there is a line of respect not to be crossed. Though I suppose you could say that about any animal. I have no interest in keeping birds again. I once had a cockatiel. I did tonnes of research before I got him but the reality of having him was too much. He treated me like his mate, he would screech from Sun up til sun down until he was on my shoulder. He pooped every half an hour, he would attack anybody who came near me. He was soooo demanding and hardwork I rehomed him to an old lady with a lonely female cockatiel and he is still with them 4 years down the line. Nope, I wouldnt take in birds. I'm actually very open with having pets. I've had birds, dogs, cats, and even fishes.
The only kinds of pets I can say I'd actually have problems with is snakes and spiders. I just find them to be terrifying. Snakes and spiders just doesn't fit my picture of being cute and cuddly, they are more creepy to me. |

Like most here I don't have the heart to turn away pets, but given the sort I currently have in the house I think having a cat would be out of the question (not a big cat person anyway) because I have a free roaming iguana, chins who get lots of out time and dogs that have never seen a cat. Additionally, I just cannot wrap my head around having a spider as a pet...I am the one who will not take a shower until someone comes over to kill the spider in the tub LOL

I wouldnt own a snake, or lizard or anything that I would have to feed live animals. Makes me cringe. Everything else. well I dont think Ill go past dog and/or cat. I always had dogs, but I wouldnt mind a cat, but I love dogs in general.
My girlfriend does have horses on her grandmas ranch, wouldnt mind going out there one day to ride one and feel like a cowboy. ![]() |

I wouldn't have the heart to turn away any animal in need, that's my main problem, I just can't say no! We've ended up with all sorts before now, cuz I just can't stop myself helping out the little critters.
Although, I'd have to think twice about jellyfish. That's the one thing I'm REALLY frightened of. Ugh. *Sent from TapaTalk*SonyEricssonX10MiniPro* |
