Default Pets you WON'T own
Many of us would happily take in a ton more pets if we actually had the money and time/space to care for more. Personally, I've done quite a bit of rescue work, so I've had my paws on more animals than I can count at this point.

What animals would you -not- want to have, though? If someone brought you an animal they couldn't care for and have no place to turn, what kind animals would you have to turn away?

I'd have to go with snakes. I just have this great fear of them ever since I was young so I can't picture myself having one as a pet. I mean, I get freaked out just seeing them on television and in pictures.

Personally I would not want to own any exotic pet.
Specially snakes as I have quite a fear with it. I also do not like big spiders as pets.

I don't think I'd turn anything away if it needed help but I'd never choose to own anything deadly really. I love my snakes but would never choose to own venomous, I wouldn't risk my life to own something as a pet, although I love to look at them in zoos!

I would never turn anything away, but there are plenty of things I could not house. For example, if someone turned up with a big Iguana; I have nowhere to house it but would take it in and then phone Christy LOL!
If I had the space and proper facilities I don't think there is anything I wouldn't have.

I wouldn't have the heart to turn away any animal in need, that's my main problem, I just can't say no! We've ended up with all sorts before now, cuz I just can't stop myself helping out the little critters.

Although, I'd have to think twice about jellyfish. That's the one thing I'm REALLY frightened of. Ugh.

I am not crazy about any kind of snakes. I don't care what size they are, that is one thing that I couldn't have in my house. They are so sneaky and I would be so afraid that they would slither out of its cage and slither right into bed with me. No thanks to that. The other thing that I could not handle is rats. Rats and mice are just so disgusting to me. I could never have them in my house.

I would say a tarantula. Although it is a rare pet, there are some people out there who really like spiders. I am not deathly afraid of spiders, but I wouldn't want one that big living with me. All other animals I think I could handle just fine.

I really don't care much for reptiles and arachnids really. It's not that I am afraid or grossed out by them, they really just don't appeal to me that much. The pets that I tend to like are really just fuzzy and fluffy ones like cats, dogs or bunnies. Interesting question!

Id turn away anything with serious behaviour problems or aggression. I have 2 small children so I couldn't risk that. My Ts are kept well out of reach of the kids.

I don't agree with people keeping animals that are really unsuitable as pets like chimps, big cats, big crocs that can (and have done) maul them to death, no matter how tame they think their pets maybe, there is a line of respect not to be crossed. Though I suppose you could say that about any animal.

I have no interest in keeping birds again. I once had a cockatiel. I did tonnes of research before I got him but the reality of having him was too much. He treated me like his mate, he would screech from Sun up til sun down until he was on my shoulder. He pooped every half an hour, he would attack anybody who came near me. He was soooo demanding and hardwork I rehomed him to an old lady with a lonely female cockatiel and he is still with them 4 years down the line. Nope, I wouldnt take in birds.

While I'm in the city in an apartment I won't own a dog. I grew up in the country with dogs and lots of other animals and I just can't stand the thought of keeping a dog cooped up even with a few walks a day. I know most adapt just fine, but I just can't. When I move back to a few acres in the country, though, I'll adopt dogs.

Also, nothing venomous.

I never thought i'd own a tarantula as i'm terrified of them but now I do so I guess if I hhad to I don't think there is much i'd turn away if it needed a home.
But if it were more pets I dislike and would never buy then rats would be right up on that list, I think the longer I keep snakes the more I see rats as neutrition lol I think keeping a pet rat could make it more difficult for me to feed the snakes without feeling guilty.

I once kept a pet mouse who'd been fed to my corn, but sort of regurgitated, he lived for almost a month quite happily.... that was a bit weird!

I've always had a phobia of spiders. Well I'm fine if they're in the room etc. Just not keen on being near or handling them etc.
however I now have a T as does Jen lol.

Personally I don't think I'd own any rodents. Doubt i'd ever have a pet rat or mouse. I had lemmings for a while, until one went on a killing spree and killed all the others.

I would consider a hedgehog in the future maybe tho?

I could never have an ostrich or an emu, because they scare the bejesus out of me! Rather luckily I've never actually heard of anyone who keeps an ostrich or an emu for a pet, so chances are I'll never be asked to rehouse one, which pleases me immensely as my first and hopefully last ever encounter with such a creature ended with the demon trying to eat my head!

Lol!! Now that's one I wasn't expecting to be listed.

I actually did know a guy who had an ostrich/emu farm once, but an animal that size would probably have to stay where it already is instead of being rehoused elsewhere. I can't imagine owning an ostrich, although I certainly wouldn't mind. And hey, if I could get some eggs out of it, too, that'd be awesome.

i want to see black cat(leopard family) as my pet but this is banned to adopt in my country. overall 1400 cat family members are there in india so these are the rare animals.

I don't think I could say no to an animal really...No matter how terrified I was. I would rather it go to me and look after it. Otherwise I would feel so guilty if it went to a bad home. As long as I had the facilities and time then I would take anything in.

I do't think I could ever own a gecko, or another reptile that eats insects. Just because those big worms and insects they eat I wouldn't want to have in the house, also I wouldn't want a fish tank...always feel sad for the little fishies...seems like they can never really swim properly...since most fishtanks are so small.
