Our first dog was called Mirko, that already was his name when we got him, and it suited him very well. Mirko was our family dog, so when I moved out I really felt lonely and missed having a dog around so I got Diamond, who is a black Shar Pei. He is so lovely, and really< the best dog anyone could wish for. Due to the smell Shar Peis have other dogs don't really go near him or play with him, but he still is a happy very loyal dog.

My dog's name is Felix. And yes, I get a lot of comments about it!
I chose the name for various reasons. Firstly, I was a massive Harry Potter geek and there is a luck potion in the book called Felix Felicis (hence my username!). Also, it is a latin name meaning luck or fortune, and I certainly was very lucky to get him
And just to add - his registered name is Camusmor Whatadream (chosen by his breeder)

Jiggers - he is an Irish Setter/Golden Retriever mix and the designer name is a Golden Irish. This sounds like some sort of ale and a jigger is a measurement when making mixed drinks so it seemed to fit him.

Kryten - he is an English Mastiff and before I was allowed to purchase him the breeder made sure that I was aware that he is likely to get close to 240lbs. I wanted a name that would fit both a young puppy and a mammoth sized dog. Kryten is a character on the British comedy Red Dwarf.

My dog's name is Karma. I named her that when I got her because I wanted her to be good guard dog and if anyone tried to bust in my place "Karma would bite them in the butt for sure!"

Just came back to this thread again, Kryten's look really reminds me of Mirko. He was so sweet. Whenever there was fireworks outside he would crawl underneath the couch and look out from underneath it. I miss him.

I have two dogs, a 5yr old black and white sprocker spaniel called Nelson. My niece named him, she wanted a name from her favourite tv show the Simpsons. Although given his girth Homer would have probably been more appropriate! He cant really walk long distances, especially on cold days, on account of some idiot having mowed him down on a quad bike a few years back and breaking both front legs. Hes still really agile and bouncy but he does get stiff in colder weather. I also have a black 2yr old pug dog called Humphrey. He was a ridiculously tiny pup, the runt of his litter, but utterly adorable. He is called Humphrey because I once had a dream that I had two black pugs called Humphrey and Englebert....I'm still working on Englebert!

Default What is your dog's name?
What is your dog's name and why did you name him or her the name you chose? My dog's name is Zoey. Zoey means "Life", as in full of life and energy. She is really a hyper dog and I'm happy we chose the name we did for her. When we first brought her home we knew she was a crazy dog an still is to this day.

My dog passed away a few years ago but everyone always remarked on her name. My siblings and I tended to come up with very odd ones. This dog was a pit bull. She was extremely sweet-natured and never even growled at anyone. She was completely white with a large brindle spot around her left eye. So we named her Katy the Cleaning Lady, She Missed a Spot aka Katy for short.

I had a yellow Labrador that I had named Kane. There was no meaning behind the name, I just liked it and it really fit him. Also, my parents wanted something short and easy to pronounce. I originally wanted to name him Caige which my parents couldn't say very well. My current dog, is Callisto. She's called Cali for short. My brother had actually named her. It comes from Greek mythology. Callisto was tricked and seduced by Zeus. Then she was found to be pregnant with Zeus's child and was changed into a bear by Zeus (to hide her pregnancy) or the jealous Hera. Some chow chows look like bears, which Cali does, so that's why he named her after the mythological character.

Mine is Buddy. I know it's generic, but we didn't name him and it was very fitting for the older woman we got him from because well, he really was her only buddy. I couldn't think of a better name for him either.

My previous dog was named Thunder because when we got him, we were looking for names for a couple, with the intent of getting a female to breed with as well. She would've been named Lightning, but we didn't end up getting into breeding after all.

My dog's name is Lightning. The main reason that we gave that name is we had a weather system going in our house. Our cats names was Stormy and Thunder. Our first cat that we had who passed away was named Windy. Lightnig is a good boy and likes to play tug with his toys. He. Can be big couch potato when wants to be.

Our Jack Russell is called 'Ruby' my daughter called her that name, because she just liked it! It wouldn't matter what name we called her, she would still be a wonderful pet, so loving and caring, she protects us all the time and has the heart of a lion!! bless her...shes just learning how to get clean and socialise better.

I dont have a dog. But as soon as I'm in a position to, (when jen lets me :P) i'll get a boxer. Although, I really am not a name person. I'm stumped for names. Jen keeps making suggestions but i've always got some excuse why i wouldnt want my dog to be called that name or this name.

Quite hard to think of a name!

Our first dog is a beagle and while we were driving home with her we were discussing names. My son was 3 or maybe 4 and my husband was just randomly spouting names and Petunia was what my son picked. Our second dog someone just dumped in our backyard he is a BIG dog and my son, John, named him BJ which stands for Big John. Third dog our miniature dachshund my husband named her Bitsy after Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weeny. LOL Fourth dog Isabelle was already named I found her on Craigslist and her owner was fixing to give her to the pound so I said I would take her. Our fifth dog Baby Girl we adopted from a shelter and her name was Sweetie Pie but my son kept calling her Baby Girl so, we changed it to Baby Girl. LOL

I have a 5 year old Boxer named "Tyson" and a 1 year old Pitbull named "Zoe". They are 2 of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet and they get along perfectly with each other. I named my Boxer Tyson because I have been training boxing and MMA since I was a kid and Mike Tyson was my favorite fighter growing up. I named my Pitbull Zoe just because I always loved that name for a girl and since I don't have a daughter, the dog got the name instead! haha

Our dogs name was Jack. We called him "Jack Jack". We bought him from the a shelter. We did not pick his name he already had one. See, Jack was brought to the shelter due to dog abuse. He had an owner who beat him. before he came to the shelter he had a sister. The owners who had them named them Jack and Jill. Cute names right? I loved it. So when we bought Jack, he already knew his name. So we decided not to change it. After having him home with us for a while, our daughter who was almost three at the time started calling him Jack Jack. We thought it was cute to we decided to keep it. So his name was Jack but everyone called him Jack Jack.
