I don't have many pictures of my dog because she is afraid of the camera. Even if you put something up to your face, she looks at you like, "is that a camera?, that better not be a camera." She'll slink away and start getting nervous. It's the flash that did it. I think the flash reminds her of lightening, which she doesn't like either.

Default Things your dogs are afraid of?
Dogs are usually afraid of loud fireworks and I think most of our dogs are afraid of it.
We could observe that during new year when there are some fireworks in the neighborhood, they just stay inside the house hiding under anything like under the table or under the bed. And sometimes, there are even some stray dogs that are entering our compound because of being too scared of fireworks.

Our dogs get scared of thunderstorms sometimes if its seems to be too loud.

I have a Chihuahua who tbh doesn't care about fireworks after the first one goes off he ignores them. One thing he does hate are grates, water mains covers, manhole covers - anything like that he will not walk over willingly but take a detour round it!

He is not fond of shih tzu's either, something about their face I reckon.

Although it isn't as serious as it used to be, my chihuahuas are still somewhat afraid of strangers, especially crowds. This is partially our fault because we didn't take them out to socialize a lot when we first got them. They'd curl up in themselves whenever they are in a place with a lot of people. Another thing they are afraid of is going to the vet. They'd be happy during the car ride but the moment I pull up into the parking lot they'd start whining. I'd have to basically drag them out of the car.

I don't know if my Lola is afraid of fireworks. She probably is. But I know she is afraid of plastic bags. She tucks her tail under and gets out of town. It is too funny to watch. For a dog that is always into something, you would think she would be tougher! :highly_amused:

My dog, Dony, a Labrador Retriever is scared of plastic chairs. Sounds funny, but is true!!
I might be because she fell from top of the chair when she was a puppy and the chair fell on top of her!!.
Eversince she has a fear for plastic chairs, though she loves the sofa.

Duct tape and jump ropes. One of my dogs is a rescue and I'm pretty sure there's abuse in her past, so I'm guessing the jump rope causes her to have flashbacks. She doesn't even like the sight of one, but especially if one of the kids starts jumping rope, the sound of it freaks her out. I'm guessing duct tapes has a sound when it's pulled off the roll that is disturbing, too.

When a dog is young and isn't introduced to different noises and people, they will definitely tend to be scared of almost everything. My dog is usually scared of anything new I introduce to her, even toys. She would bark at them first, encircle it and bark at it again. After awhile, she would eventually run from one end of the room, bite at it, then run towards the opposite end of the room, then back to the toy, bite, then run again.

It's a good thing that she's beginning to grow out of the behavior. Now the sound of motors and other appliances being turned on like vacuum cleaners, water motors and radios don't bother her anymore.

My dog hates heights. Sometimes we walk along the edge of a cliff on the top of the beach (there are railing, and he is on the leash, so no danger), and he will go to extreme lengths to walk the other side of me and will never walk anywhere near the edge or look down.

My dog is an awkward girl who is afraid of two distinct things: strangers who LOOK like men and farting.

It was very amusing to see that the first time I passed gas around my dog, she scampered away in less than a second. I tried imitating a farting noise with my leg and then another time with my mouth, but there's something about my dog that makes her know which ones are real farts and which ones are not.

I have a friend with long hair who is a male, but looks like a girl who came over my house one time. I use to think that my dog only barks at guys, but seeing that my friend is a guy who looks like a girl, I have come to the conclusion that my dog is only afraid of people who look like men.

Dogs are afraid of many things. They never afraid with the familiar peoples around them. Mostly dogs are afraid of the vacuum, any loud noise, thunderstorms and the fireworks.

My dog was afraid of bridges, and the drains in the roads/parking lots. When she was a young puppy we went on a fishing trip and we had to walk over a railroad bridge which has all the holes in the bridge that you can see down through to the water. She was terrified of going over it because her foot slipped in one of the little holes so we had to carry her across the bridge. Ever since then she wouldnt go over a bridge or near the drains. She would walk all around the parking lot to get around them.

Thunder! I have a one year old Pitbull and she is scared to death of thunder. We just had a storm here 2 days ago and the poor thing would not leave my side. People who think pits are vicious should really get a load of mine! lol

Im gonna go out on a limb here and say the smell lol since we all know dogs noses are far superior than our own, she can probably smell it instantly lol

My dog Atos is really big, but he is absolutely terrified of small children. He tends to hide behind me when some of them walk by. Of course they are fascinated by him and want to come closer but that only makes him more scared I think it's because they can be loud and move in unpredictable ways, that must confuse him

Tiny literally stops dead in her tracks during a walk and turns back for home every time she hears a heavy vehicle moving on the grounds. She did it today again and it's nerve racking because we had not been long into the walk. I just stand there and hope that she forgets the sound, but she is adamant to go back in the direction we had started to get away from the sound.
