I have never owned a cat, that DOESN'T love playing with plastic bags. It's not just playing though, they seem to lick them, roll around in them like they're filled with catnip or something, and I've seen them chewing on them. I had one cat that stuck his head through the handles, and ran about like a nutter, wearing it like a cape. The same cat would pull them all out of my cupboard, and make piles on the floor, to run about and skate on.
I have come downstairs and found a sleeping cat, nestled amongst a massive plastic carrier bag fort. I cannot be the only person who's seen this, please tell me someone else knows what I'm talking about? |

My cat does the same thing...actually doing it now as I type. She loves to naw on the bag, lay on them like a blanket and play around with them. She likes to jump into the bags like a person jumps into a pile of leaves in the fall. I don't know what it is either about cats and plastic bags, but I'm sure to keep an eye on her so she doesn't injest any plastic. It'a ironic, you spend money on toys and they end up playing with your leftover grocery bags. Go figure!

I found one in his cat litter tray once. |

Funnily enough, my cats are both terrified of plastic bags, we think it's because of the loud rustling noise they make.
It's so funny to watch one of them slowly creep up to a plastic bag, bat it with their paw, and then bolt! After a few minutes, the same cat will come stalking back up to the bag to give it another bat. It is the cutest thing in the world to watch ![]() |

the main reasons why cats love plastic bags is the hint of fish oil through the bags and the sound of them, i have four cats and they love playing with their bags its okay to let them nibble and play as long as they are supervised its fine.
sorry about the extra post thought i never clicked post on the other ![]() |

All of our cats are fond of both boxes and bags. The kitten has started taking to nibbling on bags, so we've had to start putting plastic ones away. But we do have those bag for life bags that she runs in, jumps around inside then runs back out.
With boxes and the older two cats it's quite fun to watch. If you get a new box in the house, put it down you will see them both pretend not to be interested. But then slowly come around to wanting to be in the box. Then they start this whole "Who will get in the box first" thing. |

I've always heard that the reason cats love plastic bags is because, during production, the plastic is somehow processed with corn by products.
This makes sense, because so many products now, such as fuels, include corn. Cats and dogs can pick up the sweetness of the corn scent, and for some reason it really gets them going! |
