We had have four cats, but two years ago after my most recent addition, the newest had four kittens. She was pregnant before I got her and didn't know it. So that is 8 total. It was lots of fun though having all those kittens running around! They were so precious and I was so sad when they were all given away. However, four adult cats are much easier to care for!

..cats have you owned simultaneously?
I once lived in an animal sanctuary, which held NINE cats, four dogs, over fifty rabbits and guinea pigs, and around a hundred assorted rodents. To say it was utterly insane, was an understatement, but I loved it. I couldn't open my bedroom door, without a parade of cats coming in, to position themselves on my bed, clothes, around my shoes, and desk. It's one thing to listen to one, or even two cats demand their breakfast, but listening to nine yowl at me, as well as the squeaking from guineapigs etc, got a little weird. The plus side to all of that, was the fact that the cats weren't obsessed with 'playing' with the rodents and such, because they were used to them being around, there was no desire to kill and eat. It was very lovely to watch one particular cat, nuzzling a newborn guinea pig. Anyone who has cared for pigs, knows the start running about as soon as they're birthed. |

Just recently I had 3 cats and they all had a litter of kittens so that would make it like 15 at one time. They were all born like two weeks a part. Luckily litter by litter I had found all of the kittens homes except I kept the one I bottle fed. The last litter the mama cat took off and left 4 kittens orphaned. I had lost all of the kittens in that litter except for one.
