Default Just wanted to say thank you
I just wanted to say thank you for having a fabulous forum with such a wealth of information.

My husband and I adopted Diesel when we rescued him from an abusive owner. We found him in our shop looking for a place to get out of the rain around six months ago. I waited for someone to come looking for him that day, but no one did. The next morning, I took some pictures of him, printed some flyers and posted them everywhere I could think of. That afternoon, his owner came in and wanted to know why we "took" him (should have known something was wrong right then). After explaining the situation in which we found him and asking for some pictures to verify that it was indeed his dog, we turned him over to him. I couldn't believe what happened next, however. He proceeded to drag the dog out the door and started to beat the shit out of him, yelling and screaming at the dog the whole time. I was stunned to say the least and my husband confronted the asshole while I called the police and videotaped the entire thing with my phone. I didn't want it to end up being a "he said, she said" situation. Needless to say, things got chaotic from there. In the end, animal control came out to take the dog and while he was loading the dog, he made the comment that he was going to, "Take that one to the pile." I asked him what he meant and he said all those dogs get euthanized. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I asked the officer who responded to the call if we could take him instead of animal control and amazingly enough, he let us.

I never intended to have another dog after ours died of old age several years ago, but I couldn't look at that face knowing he was being carted away to certain death.

I honestly couldn't ask for sweeter dog. Our vet thinks he is a boxer/bully breed mix, which led me here. He had some issues to work through, but your forum, implementing NILIF and a lot of love and training have made all of the difference.

Sorry for the long post, but again, thank you! (If I can figure out how to upload a picture from my phone, I will.)

I believe that your dog finding you was really something special. My pup also fell into my lap, we were looking for a goldendoodle, or lab... that didn't happen. But like you, I am so happy things turned out the way they did. I hope you guys have a great and happy life together. Keep us updated, and when you can, post a lot of pictures (We all love them!)
