The reason blue dogs are what they are is because the color was isolated. Breeders began to breed for the blue coat, paying no mind to the working aspects of the breed. It became a popular color to breed for in Amstaffs, and still is.
the thing is, its NOT popular in amstaffs. I know of 2 amstaff breeders that breed for blue, vs maybe 50 that don't breed for it, it just happens.
blue amstaffs don't do well in the show ring. its much harder to finish a blue dog, so most breeders don't breed for it.
it seems that all the ambully breeders breed for blue though
