Default Cost effective fencing.
What are the possible solutions for fencing in a part of my parents yard? Zooey is not a digger but I want it doggy proof for other dogs to play in. What's the pricing per foot? It's not my house so I don't want to go too crazy. I just want somewhere for her to stretch her legs when my mom gets annoyed of her following her around when I'm there. She's a leash chewer so I don't wanna just use a line.

It depends on the size of the dog, but we used cattle fencing for our backyard. Lowes has it for around $125 for 330ft. It's great for our bigger dogs, but a little dog could go through it. Also, our backyard is surrounded by woods, so we don't really have a problem with other ppls animals.

That's awesome. Can you get some pics up so I can see your setup? I was hoping for under 1k for materials

Not very good pics, but you can see 4x4 posts for corners, t posts in between. Like I said, my yard is on the edge of woods, so we fenced in some woods too, because our dogs poop in the woods instead of the yard. bottom of fencing starts with 2X4 inch squares, then goes up to 4X4 inch squares at the top.

That really doesn't look like it would effectively keep a dog in.

That hardly looks like it would keep a determined cow in lol

OP if you search craigslist you can usually find fencing people are throwing out you could try that,or you get set up a chain spot and supervise playtime

Well, It works. My Bully stays in just fine. The 2 that you can see the fence is on both sides of the house, where he jumps at it when I pull in. I probably need to get my hubby out there to tighten it up, but like I said, He's not went over it or been able to knock it down. My chow is an escape artist, & she's not gotten out yet either. Knock on wood. LOL. Just telling what I've got. It's not too expensive if you do it yourself. Checkout all the fencing at your local stores.

Chain spot would be the most secure cost-effective thing. The cattle fencing isn't bad but I would use more secure posts, with less distance between them. jmo

Cliffdog, I agree. If I had close neighbors, Or dogs coming up to the outside of my fence, I wouldn't trust the t posts to keep him in, ( If there was something he wanted on the other side). But I'm lucky enough to live in the country owning the woods around our property, & Bully isn't left outside.

damn that sucked i edited my post and i think i erased it all.

go to the tractor trailor supply and they have cow panels their that are 5ftx16ft for about $62.00......it is made out of heavy duty welded wire that is actually thicker gauged than store bought welded wire kennels, but your specifically mentioning fencing. you can also use 2x4x10 lumber to erect your fencing. you can use the tom garner kennel building on youtube to get an idea of how to build it.

here is a website that has some examples for you. if you look they use the same 3 sided frame work that garner uses on his youtube clip.

I've got sheep fence around my yard with a hot wire on the top and it works fine. Drill stem corner posts and t-posts between.

It'll only happen once. I touched that thing one time and that was plenty.

I decided I just had to know how hard that thing hit so I touched it with the back of my hand. Now I know. I'm not curious any more. Neither is my seven year old who saw me do it. Or my wife who also saw and has never let me live it down.

i would only trust welded wire and not their durable plastic fencing as they have. i would not trust that for my dogs. chain, home made cable tie-outs with high break readings and welded fences/kennels is all i would use. definantly no vinyl fences or so called durable polypropylene plastic. i have seen APBT's mess cheap chain linked kennels and fences up i coulndnt see there fence being suitable for APBT's or bullies just my 2cents.

also its kinda painful, but if you use wire and tighten it with plyers on whatever fencing you use it seems to stay really well, I also use zipties too
this is how mine is set up

the shorter fence here is chicken wire, it wraps under my main fence to keep anyone from digging out

if they will be supervised maybe you can do what elliehanna is doing but id be on my toes with that one. you can bend those easily with only your fingers imagine a determined dog that wants to get out. its too much of a risk for me though.

nope something like this http://www.tractorsupply.com/horse-f...16-ft--3610375..... i wouldnt trust anything that can roll up.

here is a one from GD that i found. check this thread out http://www.game-dog.com/showthread.php?t=57925&page=1....

if forgot they made 2x4x16ft http://www.menards.com/main/building...362-c-9513.htm. if you use these and sandwich the cow panels between the lumbers for every (1) 5x16ft panel you'd need (6) 2x4x16's for the tops&bottoms(4) 2x4x10's for the sides and middle support. each panel constructed like this would cost roughly $134.00
