Default Missing my big floppy eared boy....

Here is a picture of my boy (Trigger) living in Georgia now. He is the reason I joined this forum. My heart stopped when I saw it on facebook.

I never realized how much I would miss him until I came home from our trip and went back into my normal mode...and

he doesn't come running to play when I head for the back door.
he doesn't come looking for a snack when the familiar cutting on cutting board would draw him in the kitchen
for a piece of banana...or a piece of broccoli....or some chobani yogurt.
he doesn't go bike riding with us anymore.......
he doesn't come running when I step on his squeeky toy
there is no more wagging his tail against his crate when we come home from running an errand.

But he is happy to be back with his "daddy" and that softens the sadness, and we are looking to foster to adopt a dog.

I think you should =) Nothing may replace Trigger but maybe it will help by giving another pup a home =)

Did trigger pass away or you had to re-home him? Sorry... that may sound like a dense question.

Thanks for your responses.

No, we took the dog from my son when he needed some major intervention and after a year and 3 months he is now back with my son. I came to this forum looking for information on pitbulls amd it has been such a great learning experience.

Here is one thread:
http://www.pitbull-chat.com/showthre...ATE-on-TRIGGER

I can't seem to pull up the original introduction thread.

Aww, what a handsome pup! I hope you find a dog that helps to fill a little of the void left by Trigger

Ahem... (see below - quoted first line of this thread)

Aww you should foster! Maybe you'll find a similar personalitied dog to call your own! At least Trigger is with your son so you still get updates and visitation!

Thanks you all.

Trigger is my baby but we took him from my son with the understanding he would get him back when my son matures and is financially able, and he is now. We co-own him, so yes we will get to see him.

I am currently looking at a couple of young dogs to foster to adopt in our area, that are being fostered right now. I would love to get a beautiful dog with papers, but there are just to many needy pitbulls in my area that I just can't ignore.

If you believe in love at first sight you could always head down to the nearest pound and see if any dog there is meant for you.

I know its easier to get a dog with known personality from a rescue, but dogs already in rescue presumably have a place to stay while looking for a home and dogs in shelters have such limited time. Our city euths after 4 days for strays (by law thats how long they have to hold them) and anywhere from that day to a few days later for owner surrenders due to space issues. I have seen a ton of Pit Bull or mix dogs currently there posted on FB by a nice lady lately and its breaking my heart. Thought I'd toss that out there, just in case.

Wish I had a link near you. I only have the one from the lady posting them here in my area.

Everyone is always encouraged to go to a rescue or to the Humane Society or SPCA. A lot of people never think to look for a new dog at the dog pound/AC if their city or county has one. The dogs in those places usually have the shortest time to be pulled by a rescue or adopted. I'd say check local cities near you to see if they have a municiple pound and maybe go have a look there. Back when I was looking to adopt I went to the local city pound a couple times a week looking for a dog I could see living with happily. If you want a Pit bull I can't imagine any shortage. Our city has 10 pens for dogs and as of right now 6 of them are occupied by Pit Bulls or Pit mixes.

Thank you for your response, MJJean.

I'm SUPER excited!!!

My husband and I found a little girl we like today, and we are probably going to foster to adopt a her. Due to the fact that I do not have (hardly any) extensive training and history with dogs, I feel unqualified to take on one from the pound, not knowing any history.

This will open up a space for the rescue group to take on another dog from the shelter/pound.

Yeah, if you don't have a lot of dog experience I could see why you'd prefer rescue to pound. Pound dogs you're going off anything the AC may know from previous owners (assuming they were honest) and gut instinct.

She's a pretty dog, I hope you get approved and can adopt her

Thank you, we have qualified, just getting supplies and crate is on order. We gave my son EVERYTHING (42" crate, coolaroo cot, pillow bed, toys, food, vitamins, brush, coconut oil, efa oils) for Trigger, so we are starting from scratch.

Oooh, dog shopping! I think I have more fun shopping for the dogs stuff than I do for the humans. Our local Petsmart does a thing where they do Nylabone products 30% off Friday-Sunday and then a few weeks later they will do Kong products 30% off for a weekend. I make up reasons to go there during those 2 sales and always end up buying a new toy or two, lol.

Ooooh....I'm with you there....I can't believe how my shopping priorities have changed since having Trigger for a year.
I love doggie shopping..and you are right on...the super sales make it so rewarding and gratifying and there are always extras I buy too. LOL
