I'll give you the bottom line first ... I NEED a carpet mill
It's been raining here ALL day. Mason and Sugar have only gone outside when they HAVE to and can't "hold it" any longer. Mason is quite used to 2-3 LONG walks a day ... today he has had exactly NO walks whatsoever. It's 8 P.M. and Mason is bouncing off the walls like it's 9 in the morning. The boy just can't burn the energy off doing zoomies indoors along with toys and getting into anything and everything possible. My home looks like a tornado hit it right now and Mason just opened up ANOTHER can of energy !!! ... and I'm the only one drinking coffee and tea. Sugar is fine with a rainy day. Doesn't phase her in the least ... except that Mason terrorizes her. Poor Sugar has come to me for relief a couple of times today. Fetch and tug with Mason has only lasted so long and he loses interest and wants to move on to something more exciting like trying to rip my shirt off. Over and over today, Mason has come to me and fussed at me as if to say, "Why do I have so much energy, why aren't you wearing me out, why aren't we walking?" Mason isn't on my last nerve yet, but I swear I've considered feeding this youngin some Benadryl or something !!! GEEZ !!! I hope and pray it doesn't rain tomorrow. |

Nope, no stairs.
Mason and I just played hard for almost a half hour since I posted this thread and he is settled down right now. Who knows if he's down for the night or not. If he opens another can of energy, I'm taking LL's advice and teaching him something ... it might cost me a shirt or a shoe though LOL |

Hiding food or toys and getting them to find it.
Four or five finds and they will be ZONKED out. The mental stimulation fries their brain pretty quickly and they need a nap. I use Hades' ball because he loves it, I leave him in a "wait" where he can't see and just hide. Go and tell him to "Find his ball". You can use anything, a favourite toy that they're driven to get or food. Start out with easier places, like just on the couch, or on a shelf and then it can get harder. The game keeps giving, they learn how to search for things (you'll see that they often go back to the place it was last time which is funny) and as they get better and you lose hiding spots in the living room, you can open it up to the living room and kitchen, so on and so forth. ![]() |

One of the few times I actually admit kids have a use is when the dogs need something to do, lol. The beauty of kids is that they don't care if it's cold or rainy. They just want to play outside. You should borrow a friends kids/grandkids/nieces or nephews and trick them into wearing Bobble Head out for you.

Mental exercise works great. Luckily, we have a big yard, and Frankie doesn't mind going out in the rain too much. If nothing more than going out the door, running down the deck and back in thru the doggie door. She also wrestles a lot with Nick and Rosie. She'll wear out Nick, then play with Rosie while he rests. When Rosie gets tired, she goes back to Nick.. LOL
