Default Differences in bullies vs pitbulls?
I see so many bullies that are super massize, wide chested, bulky dogs, but Gator (RE) 13 months, is the opposite. Gator is lean, tall, and super athletic. Why is it that he looks more like a pitbull than your average Ambully?
I've heard that different strains of bloodlines are bred for different looks, or that sometimes a Ambully can take more after the pitbull that's further back in his bloodline.
Does anyone have a definite answer? Or is it just me that Gator looks more pitbull than bully??

Handsome boy!

From what I understand, there are different "classes" of Am Bullies, one of which is the Classic and has dogs that look like your boy

Honestly, even for the classic variation of bullies, he looks completely different in a good form of course

My male is also 13 months and lean.

But, that doesn't make him an APBT. Not all American Bullies are short and wide. For instance, the Classic AmBully looks more like an APBT/AST. The mix that created the AmBully breed. That would explain why he leans towards the Pit Bull look rather than the shorter EB mix looking dogs that you see today. He is a handsome boy.

Sorry I should've worded that a little better, I meant that is it possible for Gator to take after the APBT - after it's been so long that the Ambully breed first used APBTs to breed with Amstaff.
My computer has froze up about ten times, and the mouse is some cheap pos thats driving me insane lol, so sorry for that confusion.

And Torque is looking good, he looked bulkier when he was younger, or so it seems in the pic, but he's a lot leaner now, he's looking really good!

And thanks yall for the compliments on Gator, soon as I have my baby and have more time, Im going to start some light workouts with him.

Some Ambully take after the original mix, as said, the Classic styles. I think my mutt looks a lot like an Amstaff, but I still call him a generic AmBully mutt because I dont like confusing people lol

Not all blue dogs are fat lards. Torque proves that

Gator's a hyper boy, he loves to fetch, swim in the creek, run, he just loves to play. And pookie, your boy is so cute, def doesn't look like the Ambullies of today but in a good way (:

Alligator (gator) rom the old days came off lines by Williams...to Carver...to Tudor and Mayfield. Plumbers took up the dogs...those were real APBTs

Gator Head dogs are Ambullies. Big difference between those bloodlines above^^^

Good luck getting an answer that everyone agrees on lol. This is all new to me and i asked at another forum and this is what i have so far...

American Pit Bull Terrier
American Staffordshire Terrier

...Are recognized breeds. The APBT is the classic American family dog typically larger than the AST but they look pretty similar. Both are old breeds that were the result of mixing multiple breeds of dogs to achieve a certain look and level of performance. You can find more information about this at wiki pedia and various sites around the web.

The American Bully is recognized as a breed by those who breed them. They have clubs and associations just like the APBT and AST. These are typically the short stocky dogs with lots of muscles and the huge built in smile but not all of them look the same. Again this breed is the result of multiple breeds being mixed to achieve a specific look and level of performance. Some of the APBT and AST fans say they are not a breed for a multitude of reasons. I personally think its rather hypocritical for fans of a mix breed turned recognized breed to claim that a new mix breed is not a breed. Whatever floats your boat. I don't have a dog in the fight... literally or figuratively . If the AmBully isn't healthy and lives their lives in pain then people should stop doing it. If this is just propaganda... its hard not to love those smiling little monsters .

Gator looks closer to ABPT to me. He could be AST depending on his weight. And if you dont have papers gator is a mutt just like my boy My boy is 65 pounds, lean with a huge head but his body isn't super muscular like Pink's pup (awesome dog by the way). I don't know if thats natural or due to more exercise but i see plenty of both. Some with bodies like Gator and my dog and some with muscular builds. Maybe the pup is a representation of their owner? My pudginess and lack of muscles is his pudginess and lack of muscles? LOL.
