Default Therapy Dogs....
Does anyone here have a Pitbull that is a therapy dog? I was thinking about getting into it here in Utah, but I wasn't too sure of the reaction I may get from some.

It is something I would like to work on with my boy because I recently found out he has natural ability for it. I an sure others will think badly of a pit bull as a therapy dog but educate them.

I don't by know someone who does.
Had I known what the test consisted of, I would have done it with Rosie last November. The test isn't much harder than a CGC.

I think several Vick dogs became therapy dogs... Not sure though. Didn't give enough of a damn to follow that case.

Yup, Wilson and Sako actually. Both are registered through TDI

Depending on your evaluator, the test is harder than the CGC, just a btw.

As for reactions, well, my dogs aren't allowed at certain hospitals due to breed bans, which sucks. And some places are more weary of allowing Pit Bulls, but I haven't run into TOO much trouble with them. If your dog has a great, mellow personality, and is obedient, definitely have it tested!

We take miley to the local old age home, and everyone loves her, even the staff they can't believe how calm she is, and how the regular therapy dog isn't as well behaved

Lily is and has been since september 2010. She visits girls that have been recently placed in emergency foster care. I've never gotten any negative reaction other than people straight afraid of dogs. I spend an hour there each visit. By the end, even the girls afraid of dogs will come up and pet Lily.
