Back in August we had to say goodbye to our 11yo rott/pit Tank. Two days after we laid him to rest under an apple tree by our garden people started asking when we would get another dog (all I could think was you insensitive a$$hole). At that point any mention of the word dog would start me bawling. We knew even before Tank was gone that we would get another dog, we just didn't know when. I still cry, I still miss him, when the motion sensor light comes on I still look out the window thinking he'll be there walking up the walk (I think I probably always will a bit). I think I am ready to move on because I now know for sure I won't resent our new puppy in any way because it's not Tank. I am actually looking forward to learning the new silly quirks of a different pup and starting a whole new adventure.

I know how you feel too. Moving on is hard, and congrats on moving forward.
I lost my two cats, both 12, within 6 months of each other. I had them longer than I have been married! It was hard, and I waited a bit, then got my Diesel. I am like you. I miss them terribly, but feel it was time to start a new chapter. |
