I need to get off my butt and go get the materials to make 4 those beds for my dogs. Maybe I can get to it soon-ish since the holidays are over and things are supposed to be picking up at the hubby's work.

I hope the supplements and exercise help him. He has such an adora-bull face it makes my heart hurt to think of him in any pain or being too limited and not able to do fun doggie things.

Have you had him to the vet yet? Was the hip problems due to the "breeder" not testing or is it a freak thing that shouldn't have affected him?

I understand if his previous owner was unable to pay for his problems and gave him away to someone who could, but man! I would have been selling stuff and mortgaging my house for that face, lol.

I *love* OEBs... I'm not sure I'd ever own one, but I've spent years looking at breeder's sites. Would you mind PM'ing me the name of his breeder? He looks very much like dogs from a certain breeder.. I'm just curious if I'm right or not LOL if not, no worries!

I'm no help on the name front... I'm racist against naming other people's dogs LOL

Right now Im calling him a "foster" but with the way things have been going I know I will be calling him mine soon. MJJean For the most part my couches are pretty low not to bad for a dog his size to get on and off ot but im bed is pretty high once I start to allow him on the bed I will have to build/buy some pet steps for him.

I have not had him to the vet yet but the breeder had him there and had xrays done. Im having those sent to my vet soon to see what my vet thinks. I guess the hips was a freak thing and both parents had been tested. She didnt want to keep him since she couldnt breed him he was pick of the litter and going to be a breeder But hes doing great here I had planned on a 1 or 2 week shut down but after two days of watching him hes such a puppy still and didnt seem stressed so this morning everyone met eachother on a walk and they are all now just hanging out with me in the living room. Duch and Kahne are pretty lazy when in the house they really only move when they are getting up to go to another dog bed or couch. He is the same way so he is fitting in really well.

I love all the names guys! Right now Im leaning towards Wilbur, I loved charlottes web as a child and as the book goes "wilbur" was the runt no one wanted besides a little girl. Plus the Bulldogge serousily looks like his mom was a pig. So right now I will be calling him Wilbur unless I find something else I really like.
I have a cat named Wilbur! I love that name! I should have named said cat Satan because he is especially evil, but I Love the name Wilbur!

Your dog is gorgeous!

MJJean. My boyfriend wanted to kill me when I said I brought another dog home..... Then he saw Wilburs face and was like "ok now I understand" Hes such a ham. His hips are pretty bad but he also has never been on any supplements for it. I started him last night on Liquid Health™ Opti-Glucosamine so hopefully that will Help and I am going to also put him on Vitaim C. I dont think he moved around allot at the breeders house either so hopefully slow walks will help and take some weight off him. I dont have a raised bed right now but I was planning on buying one but after watching that video I will be heading to the hardwear store tomorrow to get the stuff to build on. Im already head over heals for the big stinker and I will do anything I can to make his hips better!

He is just stunning! I absolutely adore him just from the pics, lol. He could eat my bed and I think I'd forgive him. The whole group of them look like they belong together. It must have been fate!

About the hips.. have you thought about making pet steps or like one step to help him get on and off furniture? I have never had a dog with bad hips, but from what I understand jumping up and down can be bad for them. I bought some pet steps for Owen so his little Basset self could get on and off our bed without causing me to get a hernia, but he can't use them because they are designed for smaller dogs to use and just don't match his bigger body type. I am going to buy some plywood and make him a couple steps for the bed upstairs and the twin bed I have for dog use in the basement.

The pics in the car are enough to make me willing to sell my house, move to a new house, pay for his hip repair and just love on his mooshy face! I am such a sucker for the mooshy faces.

How bad are his hips? Poor guy.

Do you have a raised bed? With him having bad hips I thought maybe a raised bed would make him comfortable in the crate by taking pressure off the hips when he lays down. If you don't want to buy the Kuranda type beds I think JoeBingo posted a way to make them yourself. I know there is a video on YouTube if you search "how to make a raised dog bed".

I found the video
