We got her from a man that said he was going to dump her off somewhere if we didn't take her.

I think people should adopt if they are not going to show/work or do not having any extreme circumstances where they need to know the background...most people just want papers so they can feel like their dog is "worth something"

i think you should be able to choose... i don't like shelter dogs as much because with a pedigreed dog from a respectable breeder you know the health status, parental temperaments, and if you get a pup you know the approximate size of your dog at adulthood. now that's not to say i am against shelter dogs... i have a dog from an unknown background myself and i volunteer and donate to shelter pets regularly

We didn't pay a thing for her. Free. The only money we gave him was the gas money it took for him to drive to where we were.

Not what you said in the first post, but whatever you try and twist stories all the time. Now you all uppity about shelter dogs, who cares? Preaching to the wrong people. If they want a shelter dog they will get one, if not, so what? They arent killing shelter dogs, BYBs and people like you are killing shelter dogs.

Did you rescue a shelter dog? No you bought a dog from a byb who was going to "dump her somewhere" aka sell her to the next sap who he thought would believe his story.

Just because I got her from a man 8 months ago does not mean I am killing shelter dogs. I am actually about to start fostering for our local pit bull rescue

Nah some other sap would have shelled out the cash for her, he wouldnt have taken it anywhere, money was made off her siblings and she wouldnt be any different.

^ Not always. She may have ended up in the shelter.

In my eyes, If a dog really is going to be sent to the pound/shelter and you take it before the dog does, your saving it in my eyes. I'm not to sure what I think about shelling out the money though for said dog.

The man wanted her gone. She was 11 weeks old and her other siblings had been gone at 8. No one wanted her because she was terrified of everything. He made no money off of her at all.

Yea because he made however much off the rest of the litter, sure he is going to go dump free money.

You buy from a byb you support more dogs going to shelters and being put down, bybs no matter what they say to con you into taking a dog even if its a lower amount than what was originally stated, they made money and will do it again.
Not all people who buy from bybs keep the dogs past puppy stage, thats how they get into shelters, and people encourage that buy giving money to the "breeder"

Whatever, like the money didnt end up in his pocket, he didnt take a loss, its free to breed a mutt, if nothing goes wrong its free to have the bitch deliver, and 8 weeks of kibble isnt a lot either, assuming he fed her properly, you gave him money, so what he "drove" to you, money moves men hunny, and thats what you did.

Twist it all around you want, you gave him cash for a dog, you supported a byb, and thus by your logic you killed shelter dogs.
