Default Please tell me my dog isn't the only one who does this...
Please tell me Brennan isn't the only dog who rolls in nasty things

We took Brennan and Lily on a walk down the road, which is our usual whenever it's not freezing outside.

I look over and Brennan's rolling in the grass. It was cute for a second, because I'd never seen him do that and I've never had a dog that likes to roll in things...

And then he stood up and came back over to me.

His head was COVERED in some other dog's CRAP.

I thought I was going to die. It was kind of funny in a way, but on the other hand it was absolutely disgusting and smelled god awful.

So, I brought him home and had to drag him into the bathroom, because he knows if he's going in there that he's getting a bath . I also had to scrub his collar and leash because he had even managed to get poop on them.

Now he is again a clean boy, but his head was absolutely covered in poop and it was awful.

Does anybody else's dog roll in another dog's poop or something worse?

Dogs, on the whole, are gross. They LOVE to roll in stuff. The worst thing for my dogs was a dead fish that had been dragged into our field (or dropped by a bird) and then sat there and turned into a puddle of goo. Both dogs found it before we did - and let me tell you, it was NASTY.

So yeah, dogs roll in all kinds of stuff and most of it is things we would want nothing to do with :-)

Can't say mine have ever rolled in dog crap before, but other nasty stuff. yup!
When I take them too the beach, Nick is always looking for nasty stuff to roll in. Rosie isn't quite as bad, and she usually does a little goofy dance first, so I can USUALLY stop her.
Frankie is still to young and hasnt' had that chance....yet. But I'm sure it will happen.

I've had this happen to me once with Zoey, we were strolling one of my neighborhood abandon fields and she began tracking something, sure enough I saw her stop and she just dropped and began rolling around in that particular spot. I rushed over and saw it was a decaying large bird and was instantly grossed out! Gave her a bath as soon as we returned home, the odor was partially on her collar as well so I had to clean that as well. She's never attempted to do so with feces though.

Dog crap? Are you sure it was DOG crap? That, I think, would be unusual. But as a whole, dogs will roll in the nastiest stuff. I believe it's an instinctual throw back to mask their own sent from pray.

Well, at least it wasn't something dead he rolled in, I suppose That's probably worse. I'm glad Brennan's not the only dirty dog though. I've been going around singing smelly dog and my mom has now deemed him "shit head."

Cinjent, I am fairly certain it was dog crap. There's a possibility it could have been cat crap, but there's a smell difference (to me at least) and this smelled more like dog for sure!

Shadow used to love goose crap and dead animals. Luckily he hated baths more than he liked rolling in nonsense and once he correlated the two, he stopped
