Default Are dogs ever Full....
My sandman constantly acts as if he is hungry. He currently eats pedagree only once a day. He has a nice size bowl so he gets about 5 cups. For example if he is upstairs with us he acts like a little vacuum cleaner he is constantly sniffing the floor looking for something anything to put in his mouth to eat. Is this normal ? Do dogs ever get full ? Or is my fattman really starving. Thanks in advance

could be that he is lacking enough nutrients in his food. Pedigree has a lot of fillers and he could still be searching for more. though he is eating 5 cups he could be actually getting far less nutrituonally.

Ditto. 5 cups of Pedigree once a day is the equivalent of us eating 5 bags of Cheetos a day.

OMG really.... Well when he was a puppy he was on Nutro. What are some good affordable brands. Sometimes I feed him boiled skinless boneless chicken breast

Diamond Naturals is a good affordable kibble.

And if you're going to feed him chicken. Give him a chicken leg quarter. It's fun to watch them eat it.

Yup, it's pretty decent food, my dog eats the large breed lamb and rice flavor, it's something like $20 for a 20 lb bag at TSC

PeanutsMommy Im going to read those articles but the bacteria from the chicken being raw wont bother him like it would us...? Just wondering. So I would give it to him right out the packaging?

no he will be good. here is another thing to read that helps with explaining the way dogs digest the raw foods and why bacteria doesn't affect them like it does us. http://www.best-dog-food-guide.com/dog-digestion.html it is about half way down under Dog digestion enzymes kick in later.

i feed my dog raw chicken at every meal and i still get kisses from him and i never get sick either.

the reason you don't want to give them cooked is 1 the bones then become unsafe as cooking them makes them brittle and they can splinter and cause bad things to happen which doesn't happen with raw bones that are softer. and 2 cooking destroys the nutrients in the meat

If dogs can eat shit, dead rotting carcasses, and trash, they can handle raw meat.

LOL. Very true. Everyone got fed an hour ago, and Taz and Lucy are still scouring the floor for crumbs, and stealing the ferret food Toilet Cat pawed out of the ferret's bowl because she is also an unsatisfiable glutton.

i give fruits and veggies as treats but don't have them as a part of my dogs diet. Peanut loves fruits and veggies he even likes plain lettuce. his favorite fruit is strawberries and veggie is carrots.

i should mention Peanut eats 2 lbs of chicken a day and there are still times when he is looking around the floor hoovering up something odd he finds on the floor. i think it is a past time for them sometimes. lol

feel free to ask anything. we are here to help

Mollie always acts like she is starving to death... Bella on the other hand, acts like she is anorexic... she probably doesn't eat a decent amount of food but every other day. Some just always think they are starving... like Mollie.

Sasha always acts like she is starving. She isn't. She just loves food. She would eat until she exploded if we let her.

Some dogs are picky and others love to eat.

I'll probally be posting alot because ALL of this new to me. Where I am the only healthy pits are meant to fight and others just give info off the top of their heads and im against that so its just been me and sandman trying to figure each other out. Im truly blown away by all of this knowledgeable advice thank you everyone....... And sandman thanks you too :-)
