Default Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier
I understand that the Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier was originally the working type of the breed. Is this correct? Now I also understand in modern times, that the Irish SBT isn't a recognized breed anywhere in the world. This I'm sure of. I live the UK and from speaking to a few people here, there are a few viewpoints that come up; they don't actually exist anymore, they are SBT with long legs or they are apbt called Irish SBT to get around BSL. Or simply SBTs born in Ireland.....What's the general census on here? I would be interested in any history, confirmed pictures etc. The internet on this subject seems very unreliable. Are there any true bloodlines or peds?

the staffordshire bull terrier is an English dog, but there were (are) bull n terriers from all over Britain. i assume you are talking about modern history, ie up to 50 odd years ago to the present day.
psycho and stormer 2 "irish" staffords of note were aactually stafford x ebt to varying degrees
the Dublin red strain comes from kc English stock.
gr ch duke was a came from kc regd staffords
many of the uber leggy "irish " staffords you see on the streets of England today are imo stafford x apbt to get around bsl
just a thought , if somone has been breeding staffords in Scottland for many years, when when do they become Scottish....they don"t they are still staffords.

Is this one of those breeds that fell out of favor and people are mixing to try to recreate the breed?

i don"t think they look like apbt mate,
imo stormer looks like a bull n terrier,
psycho and troy look like staffords... but basically all three are pit-bull terriers...

My take on the subject is that most couldn't tell the difference from an old school staff from working lines from a modern APBT! The staffs as most know them are from pictures googles on the Internet that have beed reshaped so to say for SHOW! These so called irish staffs are prolly old school staffs that are kept in mind and body as they were once intended for.

Oh I'm more than familar with the SBT. But yeah Jacko I take it back the first two have a bull and terrier/sbt look but with kinda smaller apbt bodies and I did think the last one looked kinda apbt with staff face.
