Default question about my lucy
hey everyone...I got lucy about a month ago, she is 3 1/2 months old which in an estamate. The people i got her from said she is full blooded american pitbull terrier. after doing some research and looking at pictures im now wondering if she may be mixed with american bulldog. It doesnt matter either way i'll love her the same but i would like to know so i can know about that breed also if she is. Just wanted some opinions.

She is beautiful. She looks like an American Pit Bull Terrier mix to me, I don't really see American Bulldog. Without a pedigree you won't know. There are tons of stickies around that you can read about the breed here and if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask.

Hi Danielle. Based on the one photo and from a sharp angle point of view, I would say Lucy appears as though she very well could be a pit bull type. There's really no way of knowing if she is full blooded anything or not, without a pedigree and/or registration from a respected breeder and registry, but she is a pretty and very lucky girl.

The AB and APBT likely shared some blood with bull and terrier breeds in England a couple of centuries ago. Today, perhaps the biggest noticeable difference at such a young age, if coloration is similar, is the size of the pup. I would imagine that generally the AB pup is larger than the APBT pup at the same age. I base that on accepted purebred adult size dogs with the AB being generally the larger dog. But that is subjective as well, since different bloodlines result in a range of different size adult dogs.

I'm sure as Lucy matures (puppies change a lot) her defining characteristics will emerge. At her age, many bulldog type pups across several breeds, look similar. For instance, here is a picture of a young AB that many would have difficulty trying to decide if the pup was an AB or APBT if it were not positively identified and the similarities with Lucy are subtle but quite noticable ...

If they could only just tell us LOL

Without a reputable pedigree on the dog, there is no definitive way to say what she is or isn't. She looks very much like your typical "pit bull type dog"

I don't think she has AB in her, and if so its so little its hard to tell. My dog snow is American Pit/AB mix with some staffy in her. but you can clearly see the AB in her. But like the others have said its hard to tell without a pedigree. Just be happy to have her. Mutts are the best type of dog you can have in my opinion.

I second the pit bull typed dog. She is a bully something, what though well who knows. It may get easier with age to tell what she may or may not have in her.
