Default EllasLeads/Stillwater?
SO for Christmas I asked my husband for two collars... one for Maci and one for Diesel.
Here's what I am choosing for Maci... http://www.ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/6204/5405 in either bubblegum pink or metallic pink.

I'm having a hard choice for Diesel's collar though! I really want a ADBA show collar in yellow or green for him from Stillwater, but I also really want one from Ella's Lead with a martingale...maybe one of these in 2" and in one of the green shades:
http://www.ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/5436/5439

What do you guys think... maybe I can convince my DH for both haha!
Shoot, who says he'll even get them for me, might have to wait until after Christmas if he doesn't. But I know I want those three collars!

Well, I don't have any experience with Stillwater, but I've heard good things about them.

All of my dogs leather collars from from Ella's Lead, and I have 3 leads from them as well. I love all of their stuff!

I don't have any experience with Ella (yet), but I do have 3 Stillwater collars. I am very pleased with their appearance and the level of quality is just...wow!

I am with you and getting all three haha, I mean I have a stillwater 3 ply leather collar that has been on Goren almost 24/7 for over TWO YEARS!!! its still holding up strong and not stretched at all, also deals with the elements well...I also have like 5 or something ella's leads collars for Goren also, I love them! the ones I have are a bit pricey (the most expensive one I have has hand made conchos on it and racked up to $100 but so worth it) so I donno, I love them though, my trainer and vet always comment that I seem to have the most awesome looking collars for my boy (he always wears either ella's leads or collarmania when actually out) so if you want some bling go with ella's leads, if you want ultra durable go with stillwater (ella's leads are durable too but I have just not put them to the test I do with the stillwater)

I don't have any experience with Ella's lead yet, however hopefully we will in the near future. But we just got Sasha a stillwater and we absolutely love it. (However its been confiscated and wrapped up already because I kept taking it and putting it on her and letting her wear it during the day. And we got it on the condition it would be her Christmas gift)

I'm with you get all 3. lol But hey if you can only choose two. Maybe you can get the other one after Christmas.

Honestly I like the Stillwater one you are talking about better, especially since your dog is a male. Its simple and plain. If I were to choose I'd go with the stillwater one.

I love them both. I have several 1.5" show collars from Stillwater for my dogs. They are good, durable collars.
I have found my EL to be exceptionally durable, BUT I do not have the specialty leather you are interested in. Both my girls have bling made from the very strong black latigo leather that they carry. And Scout's collar is a custom hybrid of the Gertrude's Son and their "Working dog collar" because I much prefer that d-ring placement for functionality and feel the collars wear better overall. If I could go back in time I would have had Lily's "For Ella" modified the same way and made w/o suede. The suede lining is durable, but hard to clean.... if you've got grungy dogs like I do, meh why bother?

Either way, you can't go wrong.

Both are great companies.

Haha and what kind of collar would that be?
I really want the super thick one from EL [in the preview pic it's black, double row of pyramids etc] but its like $125 so I have that on the list for Valentines Day haha!

Oh such a tough choice... I think I will go with Stillwater's show collar for Xmas and then get the EL collar after.
Maybe... shoots.

I can make different styles. I am currently trying out a new design for Peanut it is a wide collar. they are made from 550 paracord so they are pretty strong once i get this one done for Peanut i can PM you a picture. Flat collars I am ranging them from $30 to $35 based on the size and $5 shipping

I have yet to get a Stillwater collar.

However, I LOVE Ella's Lead. Lucy's custom collar I got from them is awesome and has been through a lot of abuse. Her damn neck got bigger, so I'll be getting her a new one soon when I get Taz a little dog collar. I'll probably get a couple of leashes too.

My latest wants from EL.... won't happen because I'm poor, but I can dream right?

For Lily:
http://www.ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/3632/6502 * 1.25" wide Black leather, silver hardware, and purple stones

http://www.ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/4630/6431 *In either black or red leather with silver hardware.

For Scout:
http://www.ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/3632/6811 *She posted one of these modified for 1.5" wide collar on fb that I LOVE. Probably black and brass with red stones would be my pick.

http://www.ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/3632/6912 * I freaking love this collar, but we'd probably have to modify it for 1.5" wide because my dogs can't pull off 2" wide.

I want some braided leather EL leads so bad! Cannnot blow $$ on doggie bling right now though!

I even know what I'd get Spaz (stray mini Aussie that showed up at my house) and we are so not keeping him. Well my roomie wants to, but I put my foot down.
http://www.ellaslead.com/inc/sdetail/6204/6194 He'd rock this in chocolate leather with orange stones and brass hardware. Crazy little punk ass.

ohhhh i really like the tobias and the twist...hmmmm.
thanks for all the info guys. tough choices!

---------- Post added at 08:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:05 PM ----------

Let me also through out there... I'd be willing to buy any second hand collars off anyone as long as they are still sturdy/wearable. Maybe I'll make a thread about that sometime too haha.

I'm a collar collector... I can already see this is going to be an addiction.

I really like Nizmok9supply he just started making collars this year but they are great! He can do padding and custom make pretty much anything you like. Nizmos K9 Supply The first collar I ordered I received in 2 days! I just ordered another collar and matching leash for my new dog and the price was very reasonable, 25.00 including shipping. And that was a special order color. I also have one from collarmania that my girl has had almost 3 years and it still is beautiful!

oh yea if it has not been mentioned, sign up to Ella's leads on FB and Collarmania, they give a collar away weekly and normally post there sales on there (I get the newsletters too just so I don't miss out on any sale when I am actually shopping for a collar)

We have a few EL collars for occasional use, and a nice rope lead from her as well that is great for when we are in public! (It's only 2ft in length, but pliable and easy on my hand - plus it's stunning!) Tegan's everyday collar is her pink leather from Stillwater. It has held up through rough play, swimming, dirt, scratching, you name it! Aeris will have to wait until she's grown up, and my Chi's don't wear collars, so that excludes them entirely xD

Both are great, and I think you definitely need at least one from each :P
