As someone who's worked in a cage free daycare, I wouldn't do it. While your dog may be good, the dogs of others are in question. I worked with some great dogs, but for every well behaved dog in the place, there were 5 that pushed other dogs too far and started shit with other dogs, which leads to a highly stressful environment.

Although most places have you and all the other owners sign a hold harmless agreement and a no liability waiver for a reason.

looks like camp bow wow has people that can come to your house and do the same things they would at daycare but at your home and you can view them while they are in your home with your pet. might be a good option too

Thanks again for replies-- I have absolutely and thoroughly checked out any place that I have left my Rosco in the past, in terms of their experience with the breed, hygiene, and ability to break up and manage a fight, should one occur. And again, for the last 3 years we have had only positive experiences, and now I have a very stable, happy social dog that really benefits from going to doggy daycare, socializing and LOVES other dogs. I happen to be in a new area now and thought this was a good place to reach out and ask if anyone knew of a good place in Orange County, California - that's all I was asking for. Most of you answering don't even live in Cali, however I do appreciate your input and reservations regarding cagefree and all comments have been duly noted -- thank you all for your time and input. Goodbye and Goodnight.

I'm very familiar with the literature that you post. On the contrary, with my particular pittie I've had nothing but positive experiences socializing him with both dogs and humans over the last 4 years. My dog is extremely well cared for and I've only ever left him with bully savvy places. We are excellent ambassadors of the breed, having changed the perception of pit bulls on countless occasions. Not all, but many pit bulls can be socialized, perhaps not all owners however.
While I'm sure you are attempting to come from a good place, you don't know me or my dog, and your comment is highly rigid, redundant and condescending-- please refrain from interacting with me again-- we really have nothing to offer each other. Respectfully.
I don't understand you come on here asking for help and don't get the answers you want so you get mad? Just because its not what you want to hear doesn't mean its not the right advice. These people are telling you this because they've been through it. Your don't might be well behaved but what about when he comes across a lil yapper that's not, gets annoyed and snaps? How well behaved will he be then? These are not poodles these are bulldogs. If you want a dog you can take to a dog park go get one. But this is not the breed. Some of these people have been dealing with apbts their whole lives and have yards full of these dogs. Needless to say wanna hear it or not they're smarter than u on this subject. Listen it will save u a lot of problems later.

I don't think they wanted advice, just recommendations on different places.
We had to get all pushy with our opinions

I wish them the best of Luck

I guess, but I feel if people didn't give their "opinion" on this, we'd be doing a disservice to the breed. Just like if someone asked, "Where is the best dog park to bring my dog?" I would hope someone would say, "No dog park is good to bring your dog", instead of "the one on 4th street." lol.

Maybe this dog is super patient and really does adore other dogs and is such a rare individual that he would never fight no matter how provoked. Still won't protect him from illness. Not every illness can be vaccinated against, not every vaccine is 100% effective, parasites are common and there is still the risk of ingesting something from the floor that could cause a blockage.

Not only would I not do cage free for safety reasons, I wouldn't do it for health reasons.

You have had great experiences for 3 years and that is awesome. But take a step back and think about it. You have been very lucky. Do you want to continue until your luck runs out?

HI!
There is a new dog day care in torrance in the works (they have another daycare in san diego currently) http://www.camprunamutt.com/index.htm. They accept all breeds as long as the inital temperment test is passed. They are hopeing to open in the new year. I know its not oc but we are really excited about it. In Huntington beach i know of 2 god day cares that offer cage free interaction and will accept pits that pass their temperment test. For http://uptownpaw.com/ on beach blvd in HB they require 2 (1 hour each) supervised play times with the owner of the company present, if all goes well and no signs of agression are observed they will allow day care. If at any time agression is observed the dog cannot return. Also, in HB is barkingham palace http://www.yelp.com/biz/barkingham-p...ntington-beach. im not sure they are still open and i wish they had more space and more dogs on a regular basis to play with but they also accept pits. good luck, tough crowd on here!

If you value your dog at all you would understand that a cage-free kennel is not what you should be looking for...I'm not saying your dog will all of a sudden be DA, but if another dog decided to bite him, and he bit back, what dog do you think will be blamed? Rosco. For the safety of your own animal, give up on the cage-free search.

I wouldn't trust a cage free care for ANY breed of dog. Cages arent a bad thing if they are getting exersize daily
Ditto... I don't care what breed you have, its risky.

Just realized that this was an old thread
