Thx for the help guys! Turns out our Erie agent called back while I was at work yesterday and approved it since we've been a customer for many years. Bad news, wife and I can't make it to shelter again till Sunday. So we both agreed that if its meant to be, she'll still be there come Sunday

Yay, you guys are SO amazing for adopting a dog!! If you really want her..you can try to put a hold on her. Call them and let them know how sincere you are. Give them a time and day that you will be there. Give them the reasoning that youcant be there until then. Le them know that you checked with your homeowners insurance and shes approved!

I always tell ppl at my local shelter to do this if they are havin an issue on getting back to get the pup, and they really want it. Now while we will 'hold' an animal for some one, if some one else wants to see the animal..they are allowed to do so. The person who called in, MUST be there when they said they were coming or theere is no longer a hold.

Hopefully you get her. Great to see that you have become a member at PBC. hopefully you stick around. Tons of great info up in here. Great peeps too!

SHARE YOUR PICTURES OF HER IF/WHEN YOU GET HER!!!

This might be one time where a "DNA" test might help...it might come back with an "acceptable mix"

Yes shelter approval was done last sun when we met her. We already did one 48 hour hold from sun to tues and gave deposit. I did surrender our deposit as a donation once ins denied the dog.
I would check to be sure but it is likely (if your shelter checks homeowner's insurance) that you'll need something in writing to adopt her. Being as there are so many pit mixes available I think it likely that she'll still be there come Sunday.

She's so so cute and sounds like a sweetheart, go get her before i do. I bet if you really stress how serious you are and that she has now been approved (she is not that small for a apbt, but most people don't know that, I bet you could get away with staffordshire bull terrier mix) they will try at least to hold her for you. Sorry to hear about your last pup.

Yeah, the same thing crossed my mind last night. Dankristen01 said they had a hold on her before with a deposit and then the insurance became a problem. If they told the shelter about the insurance being a problem the shelter might want proof the insurance company has changed their minds and will now cover the dog before they let the adoption go through.

Since most insurance agents don't work weekends, I'd suggest getting the agent to write something up on company letterhead stating they will now cover the dog and have it faxed, emailed or go pick it up before Friday afternoon that way it's available if the shelter asks.

get new insurance.

underbites can be common in this breed, and 39lbs aint small. infact thats the typical size for an APBT. they arent big giant bully dogs like youve probably seen.

Excuse my ignorance but what is an undetbite?

And to the previous comments, proper ins documents are in our hands for the shelter already!

Explanation of under bite? Photos suggest the teeth fit together like a puzzle? Not trying to be difficult, I just don't understand

when a dog has underbite, the bottom teeth(jaw) protrudes forward of the upper teeth, to varying degrees. it is not considered a major fault in bull-breed dogs !

This should help:
Pet Orthodontics

The teeth should meet in a scissor bite, with the lower canines in front of the upper canines.

Wife and I will continue looking slowly but I particularly wanted this dog. Sucks but guess it just wasn't meant to be.
